Harness Bars Legal in SCCA Super Stock?

Hi All,

After reviewing numerous previous threads on this and other forums, is there a harness bar that's legal in stock class? All I've found i.e. B-K, Breathless and hardbar all will provide some stiffness too which is not allowed per the SCCA rule book: "It may serve no other purpose (e.g. structural enhancement)." Since many seem to be using a harness bar in stock class, which one are you using? Have you modified it (cut and added an insert so it can telescope) or are people just allowing its use or ???

The Harness bars are legal in SCCA SS IF and YOU MUST hook a harness to them, ie. if you install a harness bar from B Pillar to B Pillar and run the anti sub bar to the seat rail rear bolts and DO NOT hook up a hrness to it it IS serving another purpose.

IF you install a harness bar for the primary purpose of attatching a harness to it and you wear the harness while participating then it is for Safety and no other purpode is intended. If it happens to provide some sort of stiffness to the car that is incidental, it is just that. After all a harness must be attatched to something stable.

.....the BK Bar. I also run Simpson 6 point harnesses. Although there are some other good harnesses and bars out there. The Team Tech Harness on the "Hardbar" site especially intrigues me....especially the pink option.

One additional proviso...The original equipment seatbelts must be retained in place and in working order.

I have the hardbar ( see hardbar.net ) in mine, with a harness.

Works great, not for really tall people though... and is SS legal.
