I AM GOING WITH H/C PACKAGE HERE IN CHICAGO WHEN THE WHEATHER IS SUITABLE. I AM HAVING A HARD TIME DECIDING WHICH STAGE 2 HEAD TO GO WITH. EITHER PATRIOT OR AFR? IS THERE A DIFFERENT HEAD COMING OUT W/ NO CORE? I LIKE THE FACT THAT PATRIOT DOES NOT HAVE A CORE. I AM LOOKING TO MAKE 420-430 RWHP WITH NICE IDLE CAM. (.224/.224 114). ANY ADVICE? I HAVE AN 01 Z06.
We've put some new packages together and lowered pricing to pass on to all of you! We have quite a few different combinations that should give just about everyone something to choose from. You can view all of the packages on our website in the engine and valvetrain section. Towards the bottom of the page, you'll see a section titled "TSP Heads & Cam Packages - Patriot Performance Heads - ". Just a few of the packages offered are listed below:
One of the members here Forum ID name Robiferretti just put these patriot LQ9 heads on his C5 coupe with the cam that quote is supposed to be radical" and the car really throws down some amazing power.
Absolute heads makes an awesome product as well and he's got LS6 stage II heads coming shortly. Not sure about not having a core charge on his ls6 heads though....
Since your not in real rush..I'd wait for the AFR heads to hit this month...at least you'll be able to decide based off hp numbers being hit on all three..
Supposedly The AFR heads are great with ".. the cam your looking at...Tony M. the owner was talking about 450rwhp with the cam you mentioned...
We'll see shortly when they come out this month...
i will probably go with the new afr heads if thet ever come out and numbers sufficent. i was told at least 1 more month. does anyone know how much horsepower from gmpp ls6 heads?
We'll have dyno results when completed, but the car is at ACP for widebody treatment now. We should have the engine work done by March 10th or so. Also, it will depend on what cam you install, and that is generally a product of end-usage...drag or street or road-race or? The neat thing about using something like the GMPP heads is, you still have your stock ones (resale, future resto etc.) and you can get serviced at you local GM store (be nice, now, no double entendre' here). Being CNC'd, you are not at the mercy of someone's "in-house porter", who may or may not know a dremel from dramamine! If GM puts their name and rep. on the line, you know the engineering AND quality are undoubted...takes the "gamble" out.
We've had experience with AFR's LT-1 heads, and they were excellent, and so is Rick Spaurling to deal with. With a Vortech supercharger on a 383 Firehawk, we finished 2nd OVERALL in the '98 OneLap.
For '03, something a little different will appear, and GMPP heads will deliver the "mix"...
I see people taking orders on the AFR heads yet I have not since seen one dyno test on them yet. Supposedly shortly and then we'll know something more.
Otherwise I like what I've seen down by Absolute w/cores
In Speedvision World Challenge, with the ASA-style cam (.570 lift and a raggedy-assed idle), long-tube headers and CNC'd GMPP heads, expect about 525 hp at the flywheel, or likely just short of 450 @ rear wheels. Depending on you intended usage, gearing, and all other upgrades, the proper cam may NOT be the most powerful one but the most USEFUL one for your specific application. There is NO universally perfect cam for every usage, and THAT is where the man earns his money whose combo or cam recommendation you follow...
