Help with my alignment specs!

Hi everyone,

Got an alignment for my 01Z and got the following specs back. I "feel" it always pulls to the right, and I think X-caster is out of tolerable range (-.3 actual vs site says +/-.25). Pls comment, as I'm not sure whether to go back and have them redo it. Thanks for your help!

Left Front Right Front
-.7 Camber -.7
6.6 Caster 6.9
.05 Toe .02

Front
Cross Camber: 0 (good)
Cross Caster: -.3 (bad? Dealer's range is +/-.5 vs site says +/-.25)
Total Toe: .08

-------------------------------------------------------
Left Rear Right Rear
-.7 Camber -.3
-.07 Toe -.08

Rear
Cross Camber: .4 (bad?)
Total Toe: -.15
Thrust Ang: .01

I would not settle for those numbers.

Front Camber is Spec & that's OK

I would have them increase the LEFT Caster +0.3 if they can't then I would reduce the Right caster into Spec. Remeber some differential in caster is necessary when driving on the street due to the crown of the road. For AutoX and track use that is not a concern and racers like a 0.0 difference....and mine is..... so they can adjust it closer.

I would also have them reset the front TOE to exactly neutral ).) on both sides

I would also have them increase the Right Rear Camber to -0.7
The rear toe is OK

The other thing I would do is make sure it is done with 1/2 tank and either you or an equilivant weight sitting in the drivers seat.

Thanks! I'll talk to the dealer but I suspect they'll dissmiss it all as "within range", which it technically is.

BTW, would someone mind verifying that cross caster is +/-.25 in the service manual? sorry I don't have a copy but that would make them put it back on the rack and perhaps they'll adjust the other settings. Thx much.

Bierry,
For normal driving GM has recommended settings.
I always use those (except for track use) and have the alignment tech align the car that way. They are right in-between the maximum tolerances.
I fill the fuel tank to the average amount of fuel I usually have in the car which is 1/2 tank.
Don't sit in the car while it is being aligned unless you are the only person in the car most of the time or you weigh 300 pounds and your passenger weighs 100 pounds.
I had mine aligned with me in the car but I am the only person in it 90% of the time.
The recommended settings are:
front caster 6.9
front camber -.70
front toe +.04

rear camber -.68
rear toe -.01

Cross caster is +/- .05.
Those are exactly the settings I have after I lowered the car.
It drives great and does not pull either direction even on crowned roads.
Not picking on you, but I keep saying on this forum that if you do not ask for specific alignment settings and check the sheet after the alignment then you do not know what you have. As in your case the car is within specs but not perfect as I would do it and as you seem to want it.
I applaud you for keeping the alignment sheet and reviewing it. I think most people don't.
Maybe they will make a few adjustments to your alignment if you say it pulls. ($20 would help also)
Good luck with it.
Dave

Yes I am. Sorry I didn't reply but I really appreciate the comments. Right now I'm just trying to find a time to bring it in because the dealer doesn't do alignments on weekends and they're 40 miles away.
