High RPM and AC

Does anyone know the good, bad, or no difference in running at high RPM, near or at limiter with the AC on. I'm sure there would be some performance difference but is there harm to the compressor. This is something that can and has happened while "protecting turf"

Yes this is true. If you run at a road coarse leave the A/C on at all times, it will keep both fans on and your water temp will stay nice all day.

Yeah, This is a FACT. The A/C comp cuts off under hard throttle.

I have always been under the impression that it did it around 3500....never seen any hard evidence of it, so it very may well be at 5K!

It should happen at Wide Open Throttle and is independent of the RPM.

I wouldn't do this if I were you!! Had a friend who (unintentionally) left his A/C on while on a road course track day (I was his passenger). The compressor does in fact cut out at full throttle or even 5K rpm or whatever....BUT, coming into corners and slower parts of the course the rpm drop and your out of the throttle causing the A/C to come on. The A/C comes on at typically high(er) rpm forcing the clutches to have to catch up with engine rpm. When our 20 minute session was over, we pulled into the pits with smoke coming from under the hood....the A/C compressor clutches had fried.

This was in a '96 LT4 car and unless the A/C compressor has been redesigned, I suggest driving with the windows open and go like hell to keep airflow going through the radiator.
