I've got a painted mural underhood liner that I think you'd like.
PM me for details.

Re: Hood insulation

I have been thinking of pulling mine off as well. I pulled mine off my 03 cobra and daily drove it for 3 years with no problems.

Are the stock hoods painted on the bottom side?

Re: Hood insulation

I have also been contemplating taking my hoodliner out as well. I have seen cars without it but they had designs or pictures painted under the hood.

Re: Hood insulation

I have removed this from many of my cars with no paint problems.

Re: Hood insulation

I believe it is okay to remove the pad also. When the one on my Z gets ugly you better believe I am going to remove it. On my 70 which has a nice paint job on it has not had a hood pad under it ever since I got the car painted. That has been around 4 or 5 years now and no problems yet.

Re: Hood insulation

I never thought to remove it. Mine is still in great shape, but if starts looking dated it is coming off!

Re: Hood insulation

My DRM hood doesn't have one and I've got the underside painted like the rest of the car w/o issues. It's there for noise suppression and fire suppression. In an engine fire the plastic tabs melt and the blanket falls on the motor.

Re: Hood insulation

I took the liner of 2-3 years ago. These are great cars, and I did it primarily to hear more of that great engine noise.
