How much HP gain with T1 intake???

Dudes, I'm gettin' a Halltech carbon fiber T1 intake. What is the real HP gain I can expect from this mod? My 2001 Z06 is currently all stock.

I just installed one of the TRIC Bottom Breathers. I was told to expect 20 to 25 HP gain. I don't really know if it is that much or not, but SOTP indicates that something really kicked up the response. I sat there last night and the tires didn't hook up immediately, which is to say that I was smoking something, and it wasn't demon weed! The active traction handling light came on!

I would say that, at the risk of all the real gear heads slapping me, that you would get upward of around 17 to 20, anyway. Did you ask Jim?

At any rate, congratulations!

Dan

I had the sideWinder with the carbon fiber power duct on my '01 before switching to the Vortex Rammer. I saw 12 rwhp with the sideWinder. Adding long tube headers and x-pipe picked up another 20 to 23 rwhp. I have not dyno-d since switching to the Rammer and I have not had time to adjust A/F ratio using the MAFT & AutoTap. I hope to see another 5rwhp from the combination of the MAFT and Vortex box. Good luck!

Don

I installed the Carbon Fiber T1, last night at 4 am... after the relearn, went for a spin, I was Smiling Ear to Ear, Boy it sure makes the car rip even better than before. Defintely worth a good 10-15 Rwhp.. Just responds so much nicer.... I = Happy Camper.. Easy install after i got the dam MAF plug out.. Stupid simple things slowing me down.. I am just concerned if i ever have to go to the dealer Putting that stock unit back on looks like a PITA... those metal clamps look nasty..

Well Get an Intake its worth it!!!

I'm glad to hear that you have the T1 installed and feel the difference. Cuz I sure did when I put my stock air filter back on the Z.

You sure you don't want the A/F Calibrator? It'll add another ~15rwhp.

The 01's responded very well to this mod...
I didn't do a pre-mod dyno but it's pretty safe to assume that I was probably close to 335 stock.

T1 + gutted pre cats + MAF screen removal
+ LTFT zero with MAFT (no WOT adjustment yet) = 354

My AFR for that run was 12.3:1 so I later decided to go 2% lean at the WOT to see what would happen, and I got a very noticeable SOTP increase from that slight adjustment. I'd guess another 10 HP

Re: How much HP gain with T1 intake???

You are going to love your T1 - I picked up 20 RWHP before "relearn" and kept 15 after. A MAFT or LS1 Edit program to help with the A/F will yield more power from any after market induction system.

Do a search on this subject. It has been "threaded to death". HP increase depends on who you talk to and varies from HP losses to 15 to 20 HP gains. IMHO it is part voodoo.

I think you are going to need a MAFT (or equivalent) or LSx Edit along with a dyno tune to realize a gain with the T-1 on an '02.

Hi All,
Just a couple of things that I think I need to understand. Pardon the dumb sh!t please.
What is a relearn??
What tools are capable of editing the AFR? And is there a shop or a person near Fremont, CA who has it?
I recently dynoed 349.8 rwhp bone stock I don't remember the rwtq off hand (02 Z06), then put on the Donaldson Black Wing. I have'nt dynoed since, but plan to soon.

Agree that an edit or MAFT would add extra ponies, but most folks (self included) picked up several hp (mine was about 12hp increase) even with rich A/F ratio before MAFT or edit

Some RWHP increase right after installing an induction system is due to the increased airflow leaning out the A/F a bit (which normally runs rich stock). After driving the car for even a few miles the ECM will adjust the A/F by dumping in more fuel, making the car rich again, negating some of the benefits. A MAFT or LS1 Edit tune will let you control the A/F and get maximum performance.

Can't help you with where in Fremont to go.

Hope this helps.

Les

Les, I sure won't argue the logic of your post because it makes sense. My first dyno after T1 install came 1000 miles later. Does this mean if I had dynoed right after install I would have had even higher hp #'s
hmmm......Interesting, thanks

Mike,

There are no absolutes. I have read where some people installed a new air induction device and the car got richer (I suspect this is the case also where people were not running a wideband sensor but gained little or no power). Installed correctly MOST cars will lean out a bit (in my case A/F went from 11.7 to 12.4 after initial install, next time up it was running 11.9 but still making more power).

Mine was running about 11.5 to 11.7 my last couple of dyno sessions. Thanks again for your input, very helpful
