Just cut my antenna down
well you must do this 5 min mod I get the same reception and it looks a lot better. Just remember after you take 2 vise grips one to the ball and one to the shaft make sure once you break the ball loose you must pull it out It does not screw out Just pull.you dont want to scar your ball

I'm about to do the same - cut it off, then throw some black epoxy there to form a new ball...

That looks like it takes twice as long as just balling up a little nub of epoxy and sticking it on the end of the antenna..LOL!

Thanks for the how to mod, my son and I just followed your directions to the T, and it turned out excellent. Thanks again.

The paint shop took off the radio antenna in order to put the car into the paint booth. Any way on the way home I'm listening to the radio and guess what yes no antenna. The antenna was in the trunk of the car. Great reception with only the threads exposed. Try it you will be amazed at the reception.

Looks like I'm cutting mine down and reinstalling the ball on top..
I looked at the directions posted above and it should be a 10 min job at most.
Too much signal degradation with antenna removed from my car.
