Good write up!

He speaks the truth.

I heard the same info a few years ago from a well-known auto mechanc who advised me to just run the extra quart and not worry about it.

BTW, as stated above, my dealer usually does 7 quart refills on my Z.

I believe a 7 quart fill results in a dipstick reading about 3/16 inch above MAX.

1 or 2 minute laps

is it necessary to overfill the oil when doing track one or two track laps which last one or two minutes each with a rest between laps?

A few years ago when the ZR1 came out they put it's engine in a boat. It was not worth the cost of making it marine worthy. And if I remember correctly that it had no performance gain over existing boat engines of the same size. Boats need low end torque and car engines do not develop much torque in the low rpm range. Get yourself a 8.1 Mercruiser and put a blower on it.
