LG Headers Vs TPIS/Stainless Works

What are the major differences in the LG Long Tubes over the other long tube headers, besides the price difference? Are they worth the $1600 or is it better to go with the TPIS for around $900? I'am just curious why their is such a price difference, or is it because of the performance?

I believe TPIS are made in Mexico. They have had a lot of problems with welds cracking. Some of the cracks have been around the air tubes and most of these cannot be seen with the headers installed.
LG is quality. And, you get what you pay for.

From the pictures I've seen it also looks like the LG's have hi velocity merge collectors, but I've only seen limited pics of them.

Anyone know if the S/W headers come with the full X pipe set up as well?

Looks like this. From the pics I've seen of the LG's I can't tell for sure. Hi Velocity Merge collectors are supposedly good to wring out the last bit of HP from a good set of headers.

We are offering free shipping on LG Pro Long Tube Headers this week.

These are our 304 Stainless steel, 32" true long tube headers with a race style Merge collector and full 3" X pipe connected to full 3" stainless mid pipes that go all the way back to the stock mufflers. This is a full bolt on full stainless steel system and can be had with or without 3" Random Metal matrix cats.

This system is a full 15 lbs lighter than the stock system and lighter than competitors similar systems.

These are the same headers that we used on the last 470rwhp/425rwtq package that we did on J-Rods Z06 ride.

They can also be purchased through Speed Inc, A & A Corvettes Ecklers and other supporting vendor on this site.

At Ecklers you will have to request them specifically since they are not on their web site yet. All have them in stock.

Full off road system $1595
With Random 3" metal cats $1995
Free shipping

Thanks

I really wonder how much better they would be...I have had TPIS on my blown Z for over 2 years now, great product, no problems..I do know there was a valid concern with this product about 3 years ago

The LGs are awesome. I was impressed with the quality when I took them out of the box. Install was somewhat painless and much easier than I thought. I have not dynod yet but from what I can tell there is definately an hp/tq increase. There is a difference in the materials. The LGs will not rust as they are stainless steel. The TPIS may rust if the coating gets chipped

If you're going to the trouble and cost of getting headers, I'd highly recommend the LG's. None better IMO.

Don't be penny wise and pound foolish. How much of a difference in price are we actually talking about here? Consider the cost of the car that you're putting them on and the gains that you'll get, particularly if you do anything else to the motor down the road. Also, think about the quality aspect and that you'll never have to touch the headers again (unless you want to) once they're installed.

I've talked to many guys that are happy with the StainlessWorks headers (not a bad product by any means), but said that if they could do it again, they would've gotten the LG's instead. This was back when LG didn't even have the less expensive Pro LT's either. Now that LG has the production Pro LT's, I think it's a no brainer.

Some of us are trying the new Kooks. They are stainless too like the LGs and SWs.

The Kooks are also flanged at the collector reducing chances of leaking from the slip fit design. Kooks has already built a reputation for being on many of the fastest F-bodies.

Here is a pic of their f-body collector, and the Corvette's are very close in design:

I'll take pics and dyno the new Kooks when I get them to compare with my TPIS setup. Also the Kooks cost less than LGs.

And they cheaped out on the x-pipe by going to aluminized steel instead of stainless steel.

It's also not a true long tube design. There was a Kooks thread going showing photos of the headers and they look more like mid length, especially compared to the LG's.

You get what you pay for...
