MAX TIRES SIZES for rims

Folks - My TOYO Proxes T1Rs are getting close to wear out and wanted to ask what are the max tires sizes for future purchase:

17 x 9.5
18 x 10.5

I tried looking for a conversion chart and I am not 100% sure if I am correct, but, I was thinking

17 x 9.5 = 285/40/17 and
18 x 10.5 = 305/35/18 Or can this accept 315?

I don't know this stuff, and it is 1:28 am. Discount Tire is closed. Hahahahaha

Re: MAX TIRES SIZES for rims

you could go with the 315's but make sure you clear the inner fender.

Re: MAX TIRES SIZES for rims

You can put 315's on a 10.5" rim and even on 10" rims as required in the front for T1 Specs., but the 315's are severely compromised.

The minimum optimal rim width for a 315 is 11".

If you are sticking with the OEM 10.5" rims then the 305 is a better choice.

Better still is to get 305/30x18 instead of in a 35 aspect ratio.

Re: MAX TIRES SIZES for rims

Most tire vendors include recommended rim widths for their tires as part of their spec sheets. TireRack is a good place to find this kind of information. There are general "rules" for tire width vs. rim width, but they are not hard and fast. Remember that the number expressed as the width of the tire is the "section width", not the width of the tread *or* the width of the tire where is seats on the rim. A 315 from one supplier might be fine on a 10" rim, where a 315 from another might not.

That being said, on the "high side" I run 315/30-18 PS2s on 10.5" wheels at the back, and on the "low side" I run 285/30-18 Sumitomos on 9.5" wheels at the front and they are absolutely nominal with respect to how the sidewall lines up with the bead.

Re: MAX TIRES SIZES for rims

I believe Rocketsled is correct re: PS2's on the factory 18x10.5's. I think Michelin has a site where you can confirm this!

Re: MAX TIRES SIZES for rims

I had 315's on my stock rear wheels with no issues.
