If I do get the 03 Z06- what mods should I get and in what order. Remember I dont know what alot of the GM mods are- so be specific. I know I want to get longtubes- but which brand are making the most hp- which sound the best? Are all brands equal- what I mean is do they all have to be welded or bolton- do the cats have to be removed, etc... What about Xpipes w/wo cats?
What about TB's, MAF's, intakes, ect... What brands do most of you prefere? What are some pros and cons of the intakes- like I had seen somewhere mention water getting into the intake- whats up with that?
Also, are there any computer programs or chips available for the Z? What about hypertech? Any other mods or ideas would be appreciated.
The intake jit's (especially the Haltech ones) seemed to be well rcvd. and the results are there. My car gained .2 and 2 mphs in the qtr from there T1 intakes only.
I am putting on off-road and borla stinger, will post results.

After: 430rwhp and 382trq - MTI Cam, MTI Track Suspension
There are a few to choose from and for the most part will give you very similar results.
Intakes: BPP Vortex Rammer or HallTech SideWinder
Headers: BPP long tube step headers or TPiS long tube
No need to replace MAF, TB may not net much if any. Injectors and and MAFT may give you some improvements. You may also want to go with another shifter.
I have the sidewinder and BPP headers & x-pipe with dyno numbers of just under 380 rwhp and just over 380 rwt. I also replaced the thermostat and fan relay switch for cooler running temps.

Good luck!

Whats a MAFT? What xpipe do you have? Do you still have the cats? 30lb injectors?
Thanks

MAFT = Mass Air Flow Translator. It allows you to change the A/F ratio by fooling the computer about what is really happening. A must do mod along with 30# injectors IMO.
Definitely get a new air intake. My personal preference from experience, after sale service, and track as well as dyno results is the Halltech T1 Sidewinder. There are other good ones out there but I have no personal experience and Halltech is a forum sponsor too.
A 170 degree thermostat along with a Vinci fan control switch will help keep the motor cool - a good thing.
My car picked up a few HP and a lot of valve stability on the high end by replacing the rockers and springs as well as going with hardened push rods. Expensive insurance, I would wait if I had it to do over again.
Headers (long tube or shorty) have not yet proven to provide a good value IMO. I have the B&B shorty headers and gained no RWHP, but did save weight. Very expensive mod. Long tube headers have faired a bit better, though I would not spend the money until or unless you planned a heads & cam swap.
Last but not least you will probably like a new shifter. Stock is OK but not great and falls off badly if you plan to do any racing. My personal favorite is the Ripper Shifter, though the shift action is very tight and some don't like it. The Hurst is a fine piece as well and shifts a bit easier.
Sorry for the long post - hope it helps.

The MAFT- does it lean it out too much? Anybody have probelms with detonating??
Not if you do it "right", i.e. use a dyno with wideband sensor and a scan tool to optimize the settings. In my case no knock, full 26 degree's of total timing to redline, 12.5 - 12.9 A/F WOT from 2000 RPM up to redline.
