Motive Gear 3.73 Gear Ratio Shortage
Just to let everyone know....
We have just been informed by Motive Gear that they will NOT have any Getrag 3.73 gear ratio sets in stock for the forseable future. This last shipment of 3.73's they received in from Italy are ALL defective in that the pinion shaft threads where the nut screws down onto it are improperly machined, rendering the gear sets un-usable due to their being no way to tighten the pinion shaft nut for assembly.
DTE was the first vendor to unfortunately receive the first few sets of these defective parts from the manufacturer in Italy and from this shipment, so we noticed the problem immediatly upon opening the boxes for the first time. A phone call to MG informing them of the problem quickly followed, but it was to-little to-late... They hired some temporary additional help to sort through the entire shipment they just received in and as of Friday afternoon when I spoke to them, EVERY SINGLE SET OF 3.73 WAS DEFECTIVE! (OVER 200 SETS THUS FAR!)
They have no idea when they will receive the next run of 3.73, nor does DTE, as it took forever to get these in the U.S. in the first place. The 3.90 and the 4.10 ratio's are not affected however and unless someone has a set of 3.73's setting on a shelf somewhere from a shipment of the past, 3.73's are/will be very scarce right now....
If ANYTHING changes regarding this issue in the near future, or if MG can POSSIBLY find a few good sets from this last run, we'll be sure to let everyone know.
