I am planning to replace my rear with a DTE Unit with hardened component and am thinking of changing gearing while I was at it. My car is 03 ZO6 with 477RWHP on 100 hp shot of Nitrous(rest of mods in sig). I plan to add headers and maybe a cam later but that will be the extent of my mods for this car. I DO NOT use the nitrous on the street so i'm looking for more fun on the street. I was thinking 3.90 or 4.10 gears. Will 4.10 be too much with my HP at the track with DR's. I will probably move to ET's next year.

What DTE rear are you getting, stage 1 or 2? I'm planning on getting a stage 2 with a strut brace.
I'm leaning towards a 3:73 myself since I've had several people tell me that anything shorter would'nt be a good idea for a Z with nearly 500 rwhp. The 3:73 gear will be a little more durable than the 3:90 too. The 3:90 would probably be a good choice for you on the street, but your N2O 1/4 times might suffer.
Traction is almost non existent in 1st & 2nd gear on these F1SC tires with the 3:42s, so the only reason I'm even considering a shorter gear is the advent of the Nitto RII.
3.90's are the best bank for the buck in your HP range. (MN12 Z06 tranny). For the MN6 tranny 4.10's are best. As you go up in HP your go down in ratio's. By the time you get to a 427 stroker motor you are back to stock gearing or even less.

I contacted DTE and they are updating their stages.
The one I am getting is now a Stage 3.
Hardened shafts both sides, Flow-through oiling, HD clutch pack, Engineered to accept LG oiling system, plus all standard upgrades. I will also install their Dif.Brace
i have run DTE rear end with 4:10's for almost a year. i love the setup car runs 70 m.p.h @ 2100 r.p.m. awesome acceleration 1.6 60 ft time with et streets and it makes 6th gear usable.
I've mannaged a few 1.6 60' myslef on Nitto DR's. I think the 4.10 would be a blast on the streets but I'm unsure if I will be able to get traction with the Nitrous at the strip.]

With shorter gears, your increasing your torque numbers, not HP.
Shorter gear = More torque, less HP.
Taller gear = More HP, less torque.
Your gearing will determine the characteristics of your power in respects to HP & Torque.
There is no free power. In respects to gearing, if you gain in hp, you loose torque, and vise versa.

In my mind, the most important aspect to consider when lowering the gear ratio (raising it numerically) is whether or not you'll "run out of gear" in a full 1/4 mile race.
Your trap speed of ~116mph on nitrous (?) seems extremely low. I'm going to guess you either 1) let off at 1000' on that run or 2) that is a N/A run, not a nitrous run.
Anyway, looking at your RWHP/RWTQ I would guess a trap speed of ~128mph or so. So, my advice would be to run whatever gear you can without going over redline in 4th gear at ~128mph...and then address your traction issues as needed.
My guess is that will be 3.90s.

Have you had any drive train problems running that 60'?
no DTE makes a great rear end. i did have a MC LEOD street twin clutch and i had some drive train problems but i switched to a ls7 clutch with a ls2 fly wheel and the car feel great. i do have the DTE tranny brace.
