New PCV design??

01 27k drinking a qt every 3-4k and blows a little blue smoke between shifts at high rpms. Stopped in a small Chevrolet dealership today and they say its a common problem on new trucks. They fix it by installing a new PCV valve with a smaller opening. Bad news they don't have any in stock, they say come back next week and we will take care of it. So I jump in the car and head over to a larger Chevrolet dealership and they say the same thing, guess what they have 1 and only 1 in stock but they will not cover it under warranty. I think they should. Has anyone else heard of this??? Should the PCV valve be covered under warranty??

I think you'll have a hard time getting it fixed for 1 quart every 4K miles. That's well within the "OK" limit for GM on these cars. But, you can always try.

The loss of oil TSB doesn't address a new PCV. It addresses a new valley cover which has a line that goes to the PCV.
There are about a hundred posts on oil loss in 01s. Do a search. Sounds like you need to get yours in for the oil consumption test.

The PCV valve is what? $5.00 from the dealer? Principle only goes so far when talking about a DIY $5.00 fix. It's worth trying.
