Oil & Oil Filter Change Intervals
Just completed my first oil and filter change today. 1K and will now commence 3K intervals (oil and oil filter change).
Had a very interesting conversation with one of the local Corvette guru.
He changes his oil filter every 3K and Mobil 1/oil filter at 6K (oil filter/oil change intervals).
I read sometime back that synthetic oil doesn't really breakdown and it's the oil filter inability (design) that limits its effectiveness necessitating oil and oil filter changes.
The automotive oil filter application is limited by the design and otherwise cost prohibitive to engineer a longer lasting filtration system. The synthetic motor oil itself deposits impurities into the oil filter and its these impurities that affect the oil effectiveness. Hence the need to change the oil filter more often.
Any thoughts?
