Being an active track day motorcycle rider as well, I don't put much relevancy with motorcycle oils. They tend to differ quite dramatically from car oils. I'd like to see an automotive test done before I believe Royal Purple is considered "bad".
If you are really interested, I'll send you some links to used oil analysis reports on Royal Purple and you can make your own call.
In my opinion, while the oils themselves do vary between motorcycles and cars, how each brand performs relative to its peers is probably going to be fairly consistent. The oil company is likely to use the same basestock in both, and have a similar philosophy with additives in both.
FYI, here is a much more detailed report on that motorcycle oil test that I found to be very interesting reading: AMSOIL Motorcycle Oil “White Paper” (1 MB pdf file)

I do a lot of open track events each year, in the warmer months here in the midwest. So, when it's reasonably warm, I buy Amsoil 20W-50 (from SubDriver - forum vendor).
When it gets colder outside and I'm not doing track events I have been running the "stock" Mobil 1 5W-30. I will soon be asking SubDriver which Amsoil to substitute for the Mobil 1, I just haven't gotten around to it. SubDriver has had great results with his maintenance procedures in his T1 racing. 'Nuff said as far as I'm concerned, plus I like supporting forum vendors.

Mobil One stock spec, serviced by Rydell Chevrolet till I am out of warranty. After that point, I will switch to Royal Purple as this is a better oil. For now though, since I have already had the engine replaced under warranty, I will get my car serviced for everything at the dealer with Mobil One every 3000 miles.

Great info ... Thanks for the link.

Dave,
Thanks for the support and the kudos!
For most daily driving, I recommend the AMSOIL SAE Synthetic 5w30, product code ASL, which meets GM Standard 4718M, and is roughly equivalent to the Mobil 1 Extended Performance.
Gotta stick with Mobil 1 5w30. Been using it for many years, great stuff, no sludge (I've heard from mechies that Royal Purple with sludge up an engine). Ran it in my Olds 3.3 liter for 178,000 miles and it still runs like a top and doesn't burn a drop! "If it ain't broke, don't fix it!"
