Welcome to
You looking for an aftermarket shifter or shortening the shaft on your OE shifter?
I've seen Tee grips ... so I know they're around ... but I'd think that first you gotta figure out what you're attaching it to.
Im looking for an aftermarket B&M kinda thing. Swaping out stock parts for the better stuff. I wanna connect the T grip to what ever is the best. (If all goes as planned im gonna do a couple serious mods)
My recommendation is the Hurst shifter with A C5R Delrin shift knob from Hardbar. The Hardbar knob can be drilled to make it sit even lower on the shifter for even shorter throws. It comes in a regular or "Chubby" size.
I prefer the Hurst shifter as it has adjustable Stops.
The OEM shift pattern fits over the cigarette lighter if you have Alzheimer's.
I'v been using a moded B&M. How is it'moded? One of the first things I did was to alter the springs that control self centering, the B&M heavy on the 1-2 side, and a lighter (about 1/10 the spring rate) on the 5-6 gate. What this did was make 3 gear shifts almost automatic, and the 5-6 shift with the same wight of the stock shifter, It also makes down shifts more presice (for me anyway). Next mode was to take a stock shifer leaver and turn down the B&M leaver to accomadate the rubber of the stock unit to fit (no rattles) and some lenth, on top of that I use a touring car (momo brand, that has been in all three of my Corvette's). Having the longer leaver, with the short throughs of the B&M is that the hand movement from the steering wheel to shifter is on a level line, and the throughs are still 30% shorter then the stock leaver, with a very direct feel.
I have a box full of other knobs but I keep coming back to the Momo DTM, the last on was a Hurst ball type, but the locking nut was causing problems with it's sharp edges.
My 2 cents on a short T type, would be uncomfortable in it's movement, it's not like a sedan floor shifter, like say my 65 Mustang. (I would install the T handle when running at Wed grudge races, and it was a four speed).
Mark.

I got a traditional T-handle several years ago from MGW that was standard threaded. I also had their "Gripper" knob, and ended up going back to that one over the T. I gave both knobs away when I sold my BPP shifter (stupid) to try the C6Z one. Probably will eventually get the MGW shifter, and stick with the C6 knob, which I really like.

I put the Hurst on a couple of weeks ago along with the Hurst "ball" knob. Huge improvement over the stock, the 2-3 is almost automatic!!! I had one problem though, after a couple of days of driving the stop for 1-3-5-R locknut came off and the stopscrew started to limit shifter travel to the point where all I had was 2-4-6!! Note to self: read directions all the way through, don't stop because it says "OPTIONAL - CAUTION". That's where it tells you that if you're not going to utilize the stops, REMOVE THEM!!! Fortunatly no damage, just damp shorts...

Mark, I didn't find the Hurst T shifter uncomfortable in it's use, but that sucker got hotter than a pistol at the dragstrip after a pass or two.
