Speed Inc. Schaumburg Illinois

Anyone had work done there? I had work on my GTO there and they did a decent job but I was wondering how they treated Z06's? I want to get some work done soon so if anyone has any pos/neg to say let me know.

Thanks

I did. Actually, you drove my old car. (the Black Z06 at the dealer you bought your car from.) So how was it? Sounded like it was too much power for you judging from your prior posts.

I saw the car you traded in for as well! That yellow Z06 was ridiculous! Your old car was a little much for me coming out of a GTO...When I drove it I thought I smelled gas in the cockpit but other than that it needed a set of drag radials very badly. All I did was spin the tires! It was very clean and I saw all the paperwork for Speed Inc. including the dyno sheet and everything else. The dealer told me you had drag radials on it but part of the deal was taking them off and putting the stock yellow ones on your old black one. How was the service at speed inc? And what kind of times were you running in that black Z06?

The smell was from not having cats on the car. It ran low low 12's high 11's between 117 and 119 mph.

Service at speed inc is ok. I can not complain. My cam only Z06 ran strong and reliable for 3 years. Nothing ever went wrong with it. What kind of mods do you plan on getting done to your Z06?

I really would like to keep everything simple (just bolt on's). From what I read intake and headers are good bang for buck mods. What do you suggest for best times? I'm going to byron on sunday the 29th. How were your times stock?

My best stock time was 12.3 @ 116. Ran consistant 12.4's around 113 - 114 MPH.

If you have the stock F1 supercar tires, I suggest dropping the air pressure at the rear to 24 psi. Inflate the front tires to 44 psi. Do a quick "peel out" to clean off the tires. (no water box) Launch at about 2500 RPM letting the clutch out quickly (but not totally dumping it). I was able to cut a 1.8 60' on the stock tires in this manner.

We had problems with them. After we did cam and headers and underdrive pulley we took it to them for dyno tuning. They were very rude to us and wouldn't let us see what they were doing. We got 235 rwhp on the first run, obviosly something was wrong. So they switched the spark plugs and we got 99 more. That still wasn't right. They basically lokked at my dad and I like DIY idiots. They told us that we didn't line it up dot to dot and that they could take it all apart and do it for us for like $1000. We took it home and found that a rocker had jumped off a pushrod with no damage.

The same exact thing happened to a guy on the GTO board that I know! They gave him the dot to dot BS. Yikes what a frightening experience. 235RWHP on a Z06 with those mods!

Crewchief forgot to mention that after we found the problem we got pulls done elsewhere and were at ~410rwhp.

I wouldn't to Speed Inc.again if they paid me...
