This seems to be growing now that some of you are getting some miles on your cars. This poll could help some of you in the near future. I'm covered this is for you.
Yes, Had this happen twice on my 03. Once during a 1-2 shift at read line and the second time on the highway doing a 6-3 downshift and hard on the gas to pass on 2 lane highway. Both times MAJOR clutch slippage and stinky clutch smell. Time for first warrenty service, car has just hit 2k miles this weekend.
Yep, after a high speed run to 140 MPH, I went to pull the shifter into neutral to coast down to the legal limit, and the clutch was stuck to the floor.
Yes - currently does it on demand with firm throttle usage.
Started about 750 miles ago - just happened one night as I was pulled over in a parking lot on the cell phone (I do that a lot - pull over to talk) - and for some absurd reason I had the car in 1st - and stood there with my foot on the clutch for about 5 minutes.
When I wen to leave I lifted my foot off the clutch - expecting it to gradually bite as I eased away - but it grabbed as the clutch lifted may 1/2 an inch - the peddle stayed there - and the car stalled (since in effect I had dropped the clutch with no throttle).
Has happened ever since on firm throttle usage - from stand still or while cruising.
I am trying to find a day that is convenient to take the car in - I have no doubt they will work on the problem - it is just such a royal pain to have to do this.
And I know - I know - it could be worse - but anytime I have to go to the dealer on my ticket for GM's crap engineering is a pain.
Been there for a sticking brake pedal, oil usage, and persistent phantom engine light - all issues eventually fixed - but apparently all issues Chevy knew about and has just kept mum about them until customers complain.
I still have to get the "rock 'n roll" chair fixed, the drivers window that won't close sometimes and the parking brake that doesn't.
happened twice under hard throttle and shift, I couldn't beileve it, Pulled over and had to think about what just happened. Been dancing with dealer who is pretending not to know anything and doesn't want to endanger the techs life to verify. Waiting until I see results of big factory check from FRCTom. I thought I ripped out the trany or clutch but it came back.
On my 01 the clutch stuck to the floor during a 1-2 power shift. On the 02 during hard acceleration from 2-3 it didn't stick to the floor but wouldn't engage fully, and smelled real bad.uke:
My '01 had to have the clutch replaced. The '02 has had two FATT's at Summit Point raceway, 1 autox and about 120 passes at the strip. No sticking clutch. And it still works well!
I had a problem too! I went to the track and made three runs. When I got back to the pits you could really smell it. It even came through the vents. I have 10,000 miles on the car and haven't driven it any harder than anyother corvette owner. It seems as though after a hard run now, that the friction point changes. It gets really close to the floor. uke:
I got the car back on Tuesday with a new clutch, both cylinders, and a throw out bearing.
I have not been told yet what the cause is.
I'm going to be seeing my friend from GM this weekend and I hope he has the answers for me.
The clutch has never felt this good from day one.
Making the trip to Orlando tomorrow and I can't wait to step into it.

Hello Tom. Thought I might have got a chance to meet you guys last week-end, but did not get up in that area until Monday. Anyway, I am curious as to what you found out on your clutch problem( and I hope it is still working fine).
I'm taking my 12,xxx mile 01 into the dealer tommorow to have this look into. when running it through the gears the clutch loses about 50-60% of its travel. Of course the dealer has never heard of this problem which does not make me very comfortable (the same way the tech said he was not aware of an oil consumption problem - I bet they would be aware of it I were to trade her in)
Is there a list of TSB's?
