Stupid Question #372: License Plate Filler

My car has the filler in place of the front license plate, but the local police have made it clear that they don't want to miss the opportunity to write me more tickets. So the question is:

How do I get the filler off, so I can add a plate?

Looks like you have to maybe take the entire nose off the car, but surely it can't be that tough.

The filler panel is held on by a tab on top and two screws on the bottom.

Push downward on the top of the panel to free the tab. Hand pressure should suffice, the panel is quite flexible.

Once the tab is free, pull the top of the panel outward slightly so the tab clears the front fascia, then pull up gently to reveal the screws.

Use caution, if you pull too hard you can easily tear the plastic from around the screws, which may make it difficult to re-install should you desire to do so.

Color-matched license plate surrounds are available from West Coast Corvettes http://www.westcoastcorvette.com and possibly others.

gresch -- perfect answer, thanks. I can't explain why I couldn't see that for myself. Groan.

PuterGeek -- the top will indeed pull out, but once you get that far you still can't get to the screws. Gotta get those from below the filler, and having done that there's no need to press from the top. BUT ... thanks for answering my next question! I've seen them, but couldn't find one on the web. The car needs something to fill in the big gash that the revenuers insist upon.
