those with CF hoods please check in

Were you able to use your same shocks that hold up the hood? when they installed my hood they were not able to use them because the shocks were so tight that trying to push down on the hood to close it might crack and break it. any thoughs on how i could fix this would be great.

Can't ya buy softer shocks? The lighter weight hood should have softer gas shocks. What are they recommending at the place where you bought the hood?

Look for CE '04 shocks they may be different. I'll take a look at mine to see if there is a number on it. I'll check back in here in a minute.

Ok I'm back...
On the shock it says: Stabilus Sometown?, N.C. U.S.A (zip code)

7295KA 0495N 339/03 B15

Mine weighs about 20.5 lbs. I hope this helps.

[IMG][/IMG] Where are the shocks bolting up to. Are they actually on the carbon fiber mold or are they like the MCM hood? Who's hood is this-have not heard of any problems like this.

EFI-1- i think 1 shock would have the same problem of not closing evenly and having a chance of crackin the hood.

z06nut- thanks for the info- i will make some calls tomorrow to find them.

n2toys- the hood is just like the stock hood but made of cf and the shocks bolt up in the same place.

im thinking my original shocks just came tight. i think the cf hood only weighs 13-15lbs. i was able to walk around with the hood with one hand and think nothing of it.

if anyone else has ideas that would be great.
thanks guys

Man I hate to hear that. I have MCM hood and no problems but, when I had the Halltech hood before "I sent it back because of flaws" my body shop said there was no way I could use the shocks because it would push up the hood. It weighed in at 12-13lb's. Good luck to you

With mine it still bends a little. It might twist a little more with less weight. I would try call the manufacture of the shock. One thing you might consider would be an actuator to rise and lower your hood. Some car show guys use them for the trunk lids and various other things. It's just a thought...
