I've had my '02 Z for 10 days now. Checked the tire pressure when I got home from the dealer, it was at 40 lbs. all the way around. The dealer told me they run them at 32 lbs. The manual doesn't mention it, so I am curious and maybe would like to know what others are running them at and how the wear is. Thanks.
Every reference to TP states 30 lbs. Several members that track theirs use minor variations to this and claim good results. I have 14k miles on my F1's running 30 psi and have noted excellent all-around performance and wear. It appears I'll need to replace them by the 20k mark.
i run 36 cold, all around. this is for relatively spirited street driving. anything less than 32lbs will cause scuffing if you take onramps / offramps at any sort of speed.
trust the word of an autocrosser!
Boz.

Ready to embrace the aging process, but I can't lift my arms.
Thanks for the info. I haven't seen any real good info on what folks are running. I did notice mine beginning to scuff a bit on the fronts on the outsides.
I have been running 32 all the way around.
I run 22 psi in the rear for drag racing, and 50 in the fronts.
30 cold on the street and 34 cold all the way around for open track events. Some extra camber (-2.0 deg. total) helps reduce wear on the outer edge in the front.

For track you can drop the Rears to 26-28 #'s COLD
For track I would leave the fronts at 29-31 #'s COLD
For track that includes road course and AutoX.
BTW all the recommended pressures are on the door jam of the driver's door.
Worm, am I reading that correctly? You are running a pound less at the track?? In my previous experience with other cars, I've always had to go significantly higher on my tire pressure for the autox. (Then again, I was running BFG Comp T/A's whose sidewalls were apparently made of wet spaghetti.)
I am taking my car on its first autox next month. What is your experience with the sensitivity of the car to tire pressure? Does the car allow itself to be tuned by tire pressure? My previous ride was very easy to dial in with pressure changes. I wonder if the stiffer sidewalls of the F1's will make tire pressure less important.
Also, changing the recommended tire pressure to prevent cupping or wear on the outer edges is a bandaid that reduces the effective contact patch. The proper way to prevent this is to have the proper alignment for track use.

Agreed, but track specific alignments are not always practical. I will spend 99% of my miles on the road and 1% on the track. A track specific alignment for an autocross may net a few tenths and save the tire's outside shoulders, but how much extra wear will occur on the inside shoulders during street driving? We'd all love the extra camber if it would be more practical day to day.
It would be nice to have a dedicated track car. Shifter karts look better every day.
