Track wheels

I need to get a set of wheels for tracking my Z06, what wheels are most of you using and where do you get them? They will get scratches and live a tough life, so I hate to spend any more on them than I have to. Is there something common you all are using? (stock sizes) Is there anything that I should be aware of in deciding what wheels to get? (brake clearance, ect)

Thanks, Brian

I would suggest John at CCW. He is VERY knowlegeable about racing and Z06's and he makes a great racing wheel!

Brian,
75% of the SCCA racers use CCW wheels. They are about $450 each depending on size. Give John a call and he can discuss sizes for your particular desires: 17, 18, 19 inch various widths, etc. His wheels are modular so he can put together whatever you want. He also knows the required offsets, backspacing, etc.
Something to think about BEFORE you decide on a wheel size combo is what tire you are going to run on the track. Many people buy the wheel sizes they want only to find there are very limited tires available for that size wheel.
In the SCCA T1 class we run 17x10 front and 17x11 rear due to rules constraints. However, there are lots of R compound tires made for these size wheels from 275 to 335 widths. I run 315/35-17 Goodyear GS-CS front and rear.

Here are the CCWs on my car:

Thanks for the advice.
I am not concerned about "classes" or anything like that. I have a tendency to go through tires rapidly (three sets so far this year on my 95 in four events) so I am looking for an economical yet effective setup. I typically run Hoosier R3S03's (275/40-17) on my 95, so I would like to run those on the front just for ease of tire buying between the cars. I am more familiar with the desired setups for the Cobra's, but am completely in the dark as what would be best for this car.
How would 275/40-17 in the front and 305/30-18's be in the rear?

I think that would be a fair set up.
Many SCCA guys run 275/40-17 on 17x10 front and 315/35-17 on 17x11 rear. Many run 315/35-17 on 17x10 front and 315/35-17 on 17x11 rear. I run the latter.
I would suggest you want a wider rear tire on a 17 inch wheel for greater sidewall flex in the rear.
If I wasn't constrained by rules, I might try a 305/30-18 front and a 315/35-17 rear.

Thanks for the info, I will call john and get something lined with the wheels. I just need to sell some of my takeoff Cobra mods so I can have enough fun money to pay for them.
