Track Wheels

I have done a few DE's with stock wheels and tires. I would like to now get a set of inexpensive (if there is such a thing) track wheels to go with new, DOT-R tires. I am wondering if wheels like CCW Corsairs and their cost in the long run is the way to go or are there other wheels with comparable performance for much less money. I have not decided on a size or width yet but I am leaning towards 18's all around or 18's in front and 19's in back. I am also assuming that I will get as wide a wheel as possible. My tire choices are not firm yet either as I have had a set of VictoRacers for another car and really liked them but I have also read that Nitto's latest race tire is very good.

Any and all advice will be greatly appreciated. I am pretty new to road racing so I don't have to have the best yet.

Hello KTWL,

I opted for 18x10.5 front 18x11.5 rear with nitto 555r2's as a street (and track if I ever find time) setup.

I felt a 3pc wheel with forged center and spun rings was the most abuse resistant, and cheapist to repair.

I popped for CCW Classics simply because they were well regarded by the people who built my car (Phoenix Perf).

I've no regrets, and have had no problem hammering out a pot hole ding that would have most likely cracked a cast wheel.

Other things to consider are the optional steel inserts for the lug nuts, and you can always trade up to titanium bolts and nuts to shed an extra pound and change.

I popped for the polished stainless hardware, since it's a street ride.

Whatever you chose, go fast and be safe.
