I took a friend for a short ride last night and I got on it through first and second gear. The tires just spun, cold street and cold tires. After awhile I start to think that the traction control was on so I should not have been able to spin them at all or am I wrong.
I know that the CAGS has been disabled. Can the traction control be disable also?
Just push the button on the console. If you push it quickly just once. It will remove both traction control and active handling. If you push and hold it for 5 seconds, it will display "Competitive mode" on the dash. This removes traction control but leaves active handling enabled.

Yes it can spin some with it on. After that it catches the spin and will do its thing to slow down the spin. It will usually light up in the DIC that it was engaged, and then it goes away. Be careful in the cold! Don

Thank you for the feed back. In the '03 Mustang/Cobra that I trade in on the Z when the traction control was on all most any slip of the tires kill the power to the engine, very dangerous when pulling out into traffic. I was wondering if it was the same on the Z.
I know how to turn the T/C off and also how to get the competitive mode on but have not been on track with it yet to see how they work.
When I asked if the traction control could be disabled I was asking if it could be disconnected like the CAGS is. Not that I would want to.
I am still in the "learning mode" with the car so I appreciate all input
Spinning out not so bad, I got an award for it in October at VIR
Most turns at willow can be survived. Streets has a long banked turn you can't see the ground beyond that I would hate to fly over and discover what that's like. Main Willow has the very high speed (about 120) turn 9 that tends to launch somebody about every run. Haven't spun that one either but I'm sure the high speed makes it a white knuckle landing once the praying stops.
I'm running the Hoosier racing slicks which probably save my neck every other turn. I can't imagine driving like I do on street tires.
