Two small issues with my Kooks

Hey All,

After about putting on a 100 miles on the Kooks, I have encountered two small (and not uncommon prons).

1- After heat cycling and settling, the exhaust moved slightly and started to knock on the floor pan.
2- I've gotten the following codes- P0420 TWC System Low Efficiency Bank 1 and P0430 TWC System Low Efficiency Bank 2

The first problem is easily addressed by getting the car up and just re-adjusting everything. But it may be worth checking clearance and everything after the headers have had a chance to settle.

The second one I am not so sure about. I know that many people get these codes when going to aftermarket cats. But does anyone have any thoughts on this? I'll clear the codes and hopefully they won't come back.

Still love the headers and would recommend them to anyone

-N

PS -- does anyone have a link to the discussion on CF in regards to these codes and SS headers?

Nabbs,

I was told that it is not uncommon to throw O2 codes initially with any SS header, since they all come with some degree of a coating which burns off and hits the sensors causing the code.

My installer said just reset, and it shouldn't be a problem. I do know that right after the install that there was a great deal of blue smoke for about a minute coming from my exhaust upon start up (I presume some type of "burn off") and then it went away. I drove the car home (about 45 miles) and have put on another 40 or so and no codes so far. We will see.

I threw one of those codes with my TPIS headers. I reset it and have not had a problem since. I haven't put many miles on the car since the install (maybe 200), so I am not sure if the problem is cured.

My TPIS headers knock around some too. I had them retightened/aligned 3 times in the first couple months of having them. For the mot part the rattling is gone now, but it occationally comes back when the engine is good and hot and I take some hard corners. I'm guessing the body torques just enough to let them tap against something.

I was getting some noise from mine as well and this is what I found:

This is the right side catback:

This is the left:

This is what I found when I started checking everything:

The header bolts all are still tight.

The flange bolts that are pretty loose, I see that their are no locking washers on the nuts. They where not included in the kit. Will put those on and crank her down good with some air.

One of these clamps has slid back about 1/4". I thought we had tightened these pretty well. Damm tight is not tight enough.

I got everything adjusted and tightened down (very tight). After a few days and some fun runs down the highway on the way home. The freakin noise is back.

Those band clamps or whatever they are called SUCK!!!

I will try some different clamps, hopefully this w/e.

I rather have codes!
