Two thumbs up for the Diablo Predator..

I finally got my 04 Predator and all I can say is... wow!

I've got a custom tune installed and it rocks. Johan at Diablo is their master tech for GM vehicles. He does all their R&D too. I've talked to him on the phone at least a dozen times. I called him up while I emailed him my uploaded factory tune. While I was on the phone with him he received my email, downloaded my stock tune, asked me about all my mods and what I was looking for out of the tune/car. While we were talking he built me a custom tune and emailed it back to me. He stayed on the phone while I received it and downloaded it to my predator just to ensure all went well. I installed it in the car and went for a test drive while I kept the Predator plugged in, monitoring all the real time data (diagnostic mode). While I was driving down the highway I called Johan back. I gave him all the real time data while driving. He took the info and modified all my part throttle parameters to zero in on everything. He told me my new tune would be in my inbox before I could get back home... it was. This is but one time Johan has helped me out. You can't beat the product or the customer service! Dyno time next week..

BTW... Johan also said he can build a bitchin' custom program (already has) for any heads 'n cam car too! Move over LS1 edit....

Great news. I've had my predator for over a couple weeks but haven't got the chance to use it. Sounds promising!

Jub: I'd hate to see that thing sitting on the shelf collecting dust.

Could this Predator be as good or better than the LS1 Edit? I know that it took a while for the '04 edition to come out. Wouldn't it still be better to tune the car while on the dyno?

I think to get a tune you're really happy with you need to get data from the street and from the dyno and find a happy medium between the two.

Looking at your sig, I see you are going to ECS for a tune. You will be very happy with the results. Chris first zero's out the LTFT's on the street and then goes on the Dyno.

For those not near a good tuner, the Predator seems to fill the bill.

Even with Diablo's custom tunes you can still "tweek" the fuel and timing +/- 10% on the dyno. If you need more (or less) in either direction you just get on the phone or email and tell them what you need for a new baseline. If and when I do the heads 'n cam boogie I'll definately give Johan a shot at that too. What have I got to lose... I've already got the predator and the wonderful thing about it is their services are f-r-e-e.
