Upgrading fuel system??

Seems like the search function does not want to cooperate so I had to start a thread.

Has anyone who's making big power (700rwhp+) ever changed fuel systems to the '97-'98 return line fuel system? I've heard the lines are larger and that the new setups were reduced in diameter to provide more pressure. I currently have a Racetronix fuel pump, Kenne Bell boost-a-pump, and 60# Motron injectors. At 6500 rpms im at 12.0:1 A/F and it goes up to 12.7:1 at 6900 rpms. The '97 set up is about $400 shipped from Fred Beans and is very attractive to me. Has anyone else done this who can give impressions?

thanks,
Jim

I just puschased the 98 fuel lines and filter for my car 125.00 but will be using aftermarket fuel rails.
I'm using the 98 system to feed a 2 liter surge tank up front and a pump from the surge to the fuel rails.

My system will require 2 FPRs, 1 for the surge tank system and the other for the fuel rails. I found this diagram over on the CF that is close to what I am doing.

I completely agree with Tom's approach.

I'm not happy with the fuel pressure on my Vortech setup. Even with the Lingenfelter pump. I've been thinking of redoing the fuel system to go to a regulated-return at the rail, and aftermarket rails are a definite.

The LS rails are lousy at high flow rates. I don't need to go quite as far as Tom has, but rails that flow-through (where the feed and return lines attached to the opposite ends of the rail) are an absolute must.
