Using C6Z06 shocks on C5Z06

I was curious whom has done this change on a stock ride height C5Z06 and whether there any issues with suspension travel and also general ride impressions?

Thanks

fwiw I asked c4c5 specialist on this and he suggested the 2004 Z06 shocks were a better match to the C5 then the c6 Z06 shocks.

Take it for what its worth.

Re: Using C6Z06 shocks on C5Z06

He's right. The purpose of dampers (shocks) is to dampen spring oscillations. Thus, the C5 shocks have a damping curve that is 'tweaked' to work best with the C5 springs. Conversely, the C6 shocks work best with the C6 springs.

However, since the OEM shocks are not adjustable, they're a compromise, but more than adequate unless you've identified a special need.

i do realize the bump and rebound characteristics of the 2 shocks are different, however I noticed only one person (wickedweasel) on this forum has commented on their usage but on a road course and had very positive feedback. Im just curious for the street how they are especially on a otherwise stock ride height car.

It appears that 2004 Z06 Sachs factory shocks are really very good for our cars. Lots of threads and magazine articles support this. I'll do this when the time comes.

Ditto...it makes sense to me to go with '04 shocks for the C5 Z06 due to the different unsprung weights of the C5Z vs. the C6Z, since the C6Z has heavier wheels and tires.

Re: Using C6Z06 shocks on C5Z06

I'd stay with the '04 C5 Z06 shocks. I felt that they were a huge improvement over the '03's, especially when hitting uneven pavement going around corners. The rear used to hop all over the place, but is much smoother now.

The only thing I would want, beyond this, is a full Pfadt suspension...

FWIW-I went we QA-1 shocks, recommended by Phil at Dynotech, and am very happy with them. They firmed up the ride and eliminated excessive body roll and brake dive.
