Hi Dave,
I have 3x Valentine 1s - one for each car. They ARE worth the $$$.
On the Z06 I have it mounted mid-winshield with the suction cups.
I use the "capital L mode" most of the time --> do mostly city driving . For power I am still using the cigarette lighter port.

Also, Chevy was nice enough to give us a spare power hookup inside the car for these kinds of things. If you pull the passenger floormat out, then pull the kick panel out, you'll see some electronic gizmos in there.
On the left, is a connector that has wires coming out that go no where (mine were taped together at the end). Just pull those out, and hook up to them.
There are three wires: yellow, red, black. I think Yellow is switched, red is hot all the time, and black is ground.
Sorry I can't be more positive, its been quite awhile since I've been down there.

What mounting system to you use? Visor, suction cup, etc.
What mode to you use most?
Where do you connect the direct power option in the Z?
Is it really worth the price?
Thanks,
Dave
Suction cups - i will hardwire but will have someone do it professionally as i am guaranteed to F it up...if you are less challenged than i am, search the site for a thread that goes into some detail - actually a good step by step out on the internet w/ pictures, etc. from someone's install that i found. let me know if you can't find it and i'll see if i saved it.
Mode - "A" active - on the interstate on long trips away from town and where i'm not familiar w/ "false postivies".
"L" - advanced logic most of the time in town and when i know where i'll get the false positives from malls, secutirty systems, etc. Many fewer beeps and you don't get so that you ignore them - that i found could happen to me if i left it active all the time.
i hardly ever drive without it on - i'm a big time better safe than sorry guy w/ the Z and tickets!
As for worth the money, it's saved me from 4 tickets in 4 months - do the math and you'll see you invested wisely!
The suction cup mount works great. I've had mine on for months and it's never fallen off or gotten loose.
The FrankHunt web site is a good guide for hard-wiring. The yellow wire on the aux power harness is the switched 12v. You can either use the black (gnd) wire on the harness, or find a suitable ground elsewhere.

Ready to embrace the aging process, but I can't lift my arms.
I have, not from being nailed by laser (all false alarms). Scared the PISS out of me.
If/when it goes off, you'll know you're screwed just by the sounds it makes.
Amen to that!!! Damn thing lights up like it's the fourth of July and there are three red dashes across the screen. Got buzzed with it on the way back from Laguna Seca this weekend. Thank God I wasn't in the Z, or I would have gotten a ticket. The rental car just doesn't go that fast.

If I can do it anybody can.
It is really pretty simple to hardwire...the toughest thing with my install was getting the clip, that holds the wires in kick panel, off.

That is the truth. I got nailed with laser just outside of Salina, KS...good thing I was slowin' down to exit OR I might still be in Kansas...darned right foot.
BTW, I used the instructions posted earlier.

I use the suction cup mount and have the remote on the lighter plug, with puts the buttun in the perfect spot to just raise your finger to hit the mute button when nessary, without reaching. Ric

How strong are those suction cups?? I've got my passport mounted high on the drivers side of the windshield with a visor clip into the headboard. I was worried about the cups coming loose and it hitting me in the head! Probally help me anyway!
Hey Shoe I use the suction cups and have never had a problem. I
have the new smaller version of the V-1 and it doesn't weigh much. It has been three months and I have never had it move.
SHOE, I race with it hooked to the windshield. I have had the lighter (loose in ashtray) land on the passenger seat but the V1 stays right there. Anyone that thinks a drink will stay in the cup holder needs to learn to shift harder Ric
