Vararam Intake?

I have a Vortex Ram Air kit that was on my now deceased '99 coupe (a little old lady decided to back into it, hard ). I have an '02, and I bought an updated filter since the size is now bigger, and I had my mechanic cut the hole in the plastic box larger instead of buying the whole new setup. Anyway, I had trouble getting it to work on my new vette (air-feul trouble codes), but I am going to try again in the near future b/c the dual filter setup I am running just doesn't have that SOTP feel like ram air. I live in rainy FL, and the car is a daily driver. I never had problems with the Vortex, but what about Vararam? How easy/hard is it to install? Also, how much better is the Vararam? The bigger opening cut into my Vortex looks OK, but not perfectly clean. If the Vararam is a little better performing and is just as safe in rainy conditions, I'd consider spending the $350 for it. Any help is appreciated!

I want the Vararam also.

From test reports it adds like 15 rwhp.

And it seems like a decent invention taking advantage of the slots on the front.

I love my Vararam, some say the install is hard but it is worth it.

The Vararam and the Vortex are fairly equal in performance, the Vararam may get a slight advantage while moving down the road. If I had a Vortex I would keep it. More than likely the codes are due to a leak somewhere n the joints between the filter and the TB.

The Vararam has a cleaner installed look, very OEM to those who do not know better. This is the major reason I bought one.

As to rain, you would need to get the screens on the front of the car underwater before running into trouble, which I am guessing is about the same for a Vortex.

The Vararam is not a hard install, but figuring out how to install does take some time. I have done a total of six now - my own (7 hours), 2 at the first FiveOJoe mod party (3 hours total - had help), 4 at the second FiveOJoe mod party (4 hours total - had help). This is one install that past experience clearly helps!

A good buddy of mine installed it in a little under 2 hours.
