Weird problem - dash lights go off when headlights go on?!

I was driving tonight and had a strange occurrence. Everything seemed fine when driving normally, but I turned on the headlights and the dash lights and lights for the a/c went out (I have aftermarket radio, but I assume the stock radio lights would have gone out also). The only light that lit on the dash was the blue mph indicator. I tried hitting all of the buttons, but none of them fixed it. I did notice that the DIC and a/c controls were actually still operational; For example, I could turn the heat up and down and the fan speed, but no display. Weird!

I turned the lights off and the dash was still out. Then I turned the car off and then back to ACC position and the dash lights are back to normal. Then I turn on the headlights and it happened again.

I did some searching here and the only thread I could find that was even remotely related was a problem with the headlight switch.

Has anyone had this problem before? Whats going on!? Help!

make sure your dash light adjustment is turned all the way up.

I'm an idiot, thats what it was. I must have turned it down accidentally whilst fiddling with the heads up display buttons.

Thanks so much! I'm glad nothing was broken! My good luck with this car continues!
