..now the McLeod likes to slam the diff. Gotta learn to slip and still cut a 1.4 sixty foot..makes me feel like a teenager trying to learn to drive a clutch..LOL
If the drive train could handle it..I swear the McLeod feels like it will cut a 1.39 sixty foot.
I have the exedy twin disk and their flywheel in mine and I love it. My car only gets driven on the street, but it gets driven pretty hard and it seems to work great for what I do. Also, the clutch probably has about 10,000 miles on it....just my 2 cents

Ok, I gotta go lay down after seeing that picture. Mine isn't clunking like that surely was with all those teeth broken off. Mine is starting to slightly howl. Drained my fresh gear oil from last week and its a pleasant metallic grey now. Put a magnet in it and have small debri. Can't wait to get it out in the next couple days and see all the cool damage I have!
Are those stock 3.42s or a lower aftermarket ring and pinion? Ratio?

Man, these cars seem brittle and finicky. I used to bang the ever living you know what out of my 2 Supras and had hundreds and hundreds of 1/4 mile runs on them, without incident.....spraying, etc. These cars are beautiful but seem so fragile. Got me concerned to run it once down the quarter.

That was a pretty new RPM diff with hardened shafts and a 390 ring set and 30 spline. It wasn't cyro treated though..maybe I should have spent the extra money. The ring gear seems to be the weak link when launching at high rpm (if you have the hardened shafts already). That fatal run was a little over 5000 rpm launch. I do have the DTE brace..the only case damage I had was the side plate cracked.
Cyro treated gears are now ordered..hope that seals the deal !!

Keep it on the street and save your money...LOL.
You may not have been launching your Supra as hard as this. Most of the time I launch at 6500 rpm and 11.5 psi in the slicks..with a 1.4 - low 1.5 sixty foot. This McLeod twin clamps down too hard and fast for that, so I will have to try and slip it a little off the line and use more tire pressure. I think a single disk clutch is the ticket for 1/4 mile...just my opinion for now. I may change my mind once I retrain my brain and foot to slip this thing.
The clutch of the day is the Fidanza 7.6 Twin Disc....read about it. Im not finding many people on the forums that are running it but I will be within a month and I will give all the feedback I can because I got a great deal on it and the marketing says it will be a good clutch....so Im the tester.

LOl..."Clutch de jour."
I had an Excedy twin...10K miles and about 100 1/4 mile passes (could not slip it, so they were essentially dumps) and it finally gave up the ghost.
Have the Tex dual disc now. It chattered like a mofo for the first 600-700 miles, but now with well over a 1000 miles on it it's quieted down quite a bit...I'd say moderate chatter. i can also slip this clutch while driving on the street with no issue at all.We shall see how well it holds up on the strip this fall.
To be honest, if all you're ever going to have is 450 rwhp then you should look towards the single disc Oz or one of the others mentioned here...it will be a crap shoot.
My Textralia did not last long. I spoke with them several times to explain the "chatter" noise and they told me it was just a frequency vibration. Told me to do a high rev start in 3rd and then a hard launch in 1st to make it go away. The noise did and so did the clutch.
im having a 3+ put in my car, its gonna be a lot more firm than stock but still drivable. Good for building up that left calf muscle and if you decide to do anyhting major it will still hold up to 850 ft/lbs

Good friend of mine from Phoenix< (Ken's06) has a Spec 3+. I've driven the car on the street and on the dragstrip and it works well, and the pedal pressure isn't that hard at all. As long as it's installed properly and they put in a new slave cylinder and do the "drill-mod" you'll be fine with it!
Keep us posted!

Sorry, man, but I had to laugh at that one. I'm getting to the point where replacing it would be a good idea, will probably go with the Centerforce and a Fidanza flywheel.
