What do you guys think about a 3600 stall?

I found a used converter on LS1.com for 550. It has 5500 miles on it. I'm finding out right now why the guy took it out. I heard from some other people that in vettes, 3600-3800 is very streetable. Any suggestions?

What is your rear gear? it makes a huge difference. the deeper the more streetable the rpms will be higher but you will be moving as opposed to the boat effect it seems with a high stall a tall gear. reason being if you have a deeper gear it takes less torque to turn the tires but a taller gear it takes more load. So there you have it, I have driven numerous 3600-4400 stalls and when they are geared properly hardly even noticeable, but when they are all mismatched then you again have the boat effect, of alot of noise and not going anywhere.

Well right now I'm pretty sure I have 3.15's. I'm going to check tomorrow. I want to install 3.73's. So my set up will be 3.73's with a 3600. Later on more engine power.

3.73 and 3600 on an otherwise stock C5 will be quite a performance jump. Prepare to feel like you got a new car. You are doing exactly what should be done first. Many people have spent money on various mode like headers etc. But you are getting the biggest performance jump. Gears and converter on otherwise stock C5 it is not uncommon to see a .9 improvement in 1/4 mile times. Tires may be your next mod.

That's what I wanted to hear. I had a feeling that these two should be laid down fairly soon along with my headers and intake.
