What is TRAC SYS ACTIVE?

I was banging through the gears last night, took it close to redline at every upshift. At the top of each gear, I noticed a very significant power drop-off, kind of like the fuel was cut off, but I was not at or past redline, never saw the shift light come on in the HUD. At the moment that I noticed the power drop off, TRAC SYS ACTIVE came on the DIC. Is this Active Handling jumping in? I had COMPETITIVE DRIVING on. I was going in a straight line, so there was no reason for Active Handling to intervene, right??

Thanks,

Hi there,
TRACTION SYSTEM ACTIVE.
This is what that means, because you were in Competition mode, this still showed??????I am curious here.
Active handling is still on when Comp mode is on, only the Traction control is shut down.
Very interesting, please confirm that you are in Comp mode, and retest.
Let us know what you have, c4c5

That is interesting! If the trac. sys. were still act. that might explain the power cut outs I had yesterday at Lime Rock. When light after going up the back hill I didn't get power back till a second or more after full weight was back on the ground (fuel was not low on times) and I had some cutouts at high revs in third on the front straigt too, before redline, like Rapid Transits. Thinking more about it, I bet that since I likely didn't remember to reset comp. mode after every restart, I was likely not in it since it most likely has to be reactivated after each shutdown, right?

Yes, every time the ignition is cycled, the system defaults back to ON/ON.

Ah, there's the problem! I didn't know Competitive Driving has to be set every time I restart the car. So I'm pretty sure it was in the default mode (TC on - AH on). Isn't there a way to have Competitive Driving on all the time?

I bet the person who invents the device to allow comp mode at startup gets a lot of sales from anyone with this system on their car. I know I would get it. Many times I have forgot to hold the button down to get to comp mode. Bill

I had something strange happen today. I was turning at a stop light, in first gear, punched it hard, the tires broke loose, car went sideways and the TC/AH never engaged!

I did not disable the TC/AH and I double checked the setting to make sure it was engaged.

Oh well, it was still fun and was second nature to let up slowly on the throttle and counter steer.

I love this car............

The system can be turned on but not active if it is still in the warm up period. Are you sure it was active?

Are you talking to me?

Yes, TC/AH active and warmed up. 70 degrees out and had been driving for almost one hour. It was still fun...

TC/AH always kicked in before when shifting hard, this one time caught me off guard.

Did I say I love this car??

I thought maybe you were new to the act. handling like me! I've only had my car for a month so I'm still getting used to it and I get the warming up message a lot here in PA, especially in March/April! I love the car also! I was in school in Riverside out in CA for a few years back about a decade ago. Not close to Sears Pt.
