Wheel Bearing Question

While attending this year's SEMA show in Las Vegas, I spoke to an engineer with a well known vendor of brake products who advised me that GM will soon be selling a new wheel bearing designed for the Cadillac CTS-V and that this bearing will fit our C5-Z06s. Apparently the bearing is a significant upgrade from the "weak link" (his words) wheel bearings in our cars. His information came from attendance at the SAE's 24th Annual Brake Colloquium and Exhibition, October 2006, Grapevine, TX, USA, Session: New Technology

Title: Eliminating Caliper Piston Knock Back In High Performance Vehicles

AUTHOR(S):
Cengiz R. Shevket - SKF
Steven J. Weber - General Motors Corporation

I'm wondering if anyone on the forum knows anything about this and if so, is the part available now? Part number?

Thanks in advance for any info.

Thanks IVOZO6, the SAE site is where I got the information re the paper in my post..I'd pay the $15 for the pdf but the details of the bearing are likely not included in the paper. I am hoping that someone will have the info.

Thanks for the SKF link. I'll read up on it.

Regards

Interesting... any updates? I've had the rotors push the pads away just in aggressive street driving... I immagine this would be a pronounced issue on the track with sticky tires.

Wheel Bearing Question

Using the SKF material IVOZ06 directed me to, I sent an email to the SKF co-author of the paper presented at the SAE Brake colloquium asking him to forward my question to his GM co-author. I'll report any feedback when and if I receive it.

Regards
