Where to mount my Valentine1 taking into consideration back window?

I am trying to find the best place to mount my V1 and it seems to be a tough call.
The rear window seems to be so small that the the optimal location for V1 would be right where the rear view mirror is

I'm confused

Where do you have yours mounted?

Do you use sunwisor clips or window clips?

If i have some tint on my windows, would it hurt the radar operation much?

Thanks for your help/tips and suggestions

I have mine just to the right of the mirror, hardwired into the wire harness under the passenger's floor board. it's just below the darker area @ the top of the windshield, so you really can't even see it from outside the car. It goes on when I turn the key on. I use only the suction cups it came w/ & it has never come off as of yet. If the tint is dark, it may harm the radar!

I bought a mount to place it permanently under the rear-view mirror. Got it here:

http://greatlakestrophies.com/c5acc/

(not a forum vendor, so admins tell me if I am out of line)

Note that there are two mounts - one for EC mirrors and one for standard. I have the EC version. It superglues in place, to the mirror bracket and not the glass. Works perfectly, and centers the unit for optimum performance.

Mine mounts directly under the rear view mirror using suction cups. Has a good look out the rear window.

alright,

so far the best way to do it would be to manufacture some home made brackets and fix the radar right under the mirror or try to use suction cups to mount it as close under the mirror as possible...

AlexWS6-
the way you use your scanner seems inefficient to me, since you use only the radar for the front and because your radar sits so low it can't protect you from behind, i tried to do it the way you have it, but it's just too low...

I mounted the main unit to the left of the rear view with the suction cup mount. I use the remote head unit and installed it
where the ashtray was. I modified the foam that it was boxed in
to fit to size. There is also enough slack in the wire to pull it out and rest it in the cup holder
when on a nice high speed run. Close the ashtray cover and you would never know its in there. Plus you can not see the main unit through the tint on the windshield.

why do you say that? thats like saying if theres a car in front of you, it cant detect the radar thats 2 blocks ahead.

Left of the mirror and as high on the glass as I can get it, using the suction cup mounts.

What Dr. Ron said, except mine is to the left of rear view mirror and just below tint line.

i said that because the radar looks right in the trunk area and the rear window sits higher, i thought radar should look through window...

i'll toy with it some more...

When looking to the rear don't forget that fiberglass or FRP is what they make Radomes from so it doesn't have to look directly out the window.

Now in the front there is alot of metal so the window is the only real choice.

Also remember that the front liscense plate is most likely the largest radar reflector on the entire car, since it is at 90 degrees to the road.

Directly under the mirror, slightly offset to the left using the suction cups. I don't have the remote unit so I positioned it so I could still see the display and arrows but high enough to allow it to "see" out the rear window. Not sure if this is the optimal location but it works for me.
