Just had a set installed, and already I can tell there is much less dry traction than the F1 SC's. I expected to lose some, but not that much. I'll give them a couple hundred miles to break in before I pass judgement, though. Who else has these and what have your experiences been like? Thanks!

It's hard to beat the F1SC tires. I'm not a fan of Goodyear either, but I was really impressed by them.
I looked at getting the Toyo's at one time, but after comparing it to another tire of the same size (not for the Z06), I didn't like the round sidewall. They also seemed to run narrower than their advertised size.
I have had mine since Nov. They do seem a little harder than the F1s but I only notice it if I am NOT on blacktop. If you are a daily driver like me you'll appreciate the grip in the rain. I have driven well over 100MPH in the rain (on a well designed road with no standing water) with no problems. With the F1s you are at risk anywhere above 40 if the road is just wet.
The Toyos take a few hundred miles before they wear off the mold release. They then will feel a bit "rubbery" in high G cornering because they have almost twice as much tread as the F1 Supercar tires. After the tread wears down a little the Toyos will stick almost as well as the F1s in a straight line and I think they stick better around curves. My last set of Toyos lasted over 32,000 miles and had more "stick" than when they were new.
well today on my way back from work it just started raining like crazy and well this is the first time i ran the Toyo's in rain and well with F1's i had to really think about goiong 60MPH in rain bec they will hydroplane like crazy. With these toyos i did hit 2 -3 water spots and well no Hydro planing at all. I love these tires.
I can't imagine new Toyo's not having as much traction as worn out F1's, but I didn't think the new Toyo's cornered quite as good as new F1's either.
But, this is my first Corvette and the difference I noticed could have been more my driving skill rather than less cornering ability in the Toyo's. (I'd like to think I've gotten better anyway)
In a straight line, my best time with Toyo's is a 12.46 with a 1.97 60 ft. The best I got with F1's was a 12.7 and a 2.09 60 ft. That was with about 700 miles on the F1's and about the same or more with the Toyo's.
I'm happy with them. I like the added protection they give the rim, or seem to anyway, and I think they're cool looking. I'll probably buy another set when these are gone.
If you want to really stick, Your next set of tires sholud be Nitto R2's...
I don't think it rains much where you live. Look into it.
Houston doesn't rain much? Been here over 3 years now. Hurricane season is always wet. In fact, we're under flood watch right now because it has been thundering and raining all week. You must be thinking of West Texas. They don't call Houston the Bayou City for nothing.
Had R2's on my Trans Am. All around. They suck in the rain. But they sure did stick to the pavement! I also ran R1's on the rear of my T/A for awhile and only got 9000 miles out of them. I agree they are a great tire, but they will not accomodate the wife factor. I needed good rain tires as well as decent dry traction, and so far it appears I have found it.

I had a set of Nitto 555's on my Grand Prix but they were 18's and the stock wheels are 16's, so it really wasn't a fair comparison. I actually slowed down at the track, which makes sense, but again is not a fair comparison for traction going from a 16" to an 18" wheel.
I thought the 555's were a lot louder than the stock Eagle F1's, but the Nitto's were wider and bigger and that could have made them sound louder, but I didn't really notice much differrence in traction.
What about the R2's? Are they noisy? Good for both street and track? Straight line and/or cornering? Do you know their wear rating?
I mounted T1-S's for track days, so I wouldn't have to sit in the pits if it rained.
When new they do feel "squirmy" at track speeds due to the deeper tread depth. They are fantastic in the rain (115+ through standing water). They are quieter. They cost considerably less.
The F1's are hard to beat when the pavement is dry. F1's look the best. They are noisy.

Support our troops; bring them home.
I have 11000 miles on them including 5 DE's and half dozen autox. They still have a fair amount of tread left. These tires are amazing in the rain, maybe a little worse than F1's in the dry, that's pretty subjective.
I have them mounted on my repo wheels and they make a good street tire. Now I'm free to polish stock rims. Just put 2,000 miles on them, no complaints.

Reason: addition
I just put a set on my car today. I love these tires so far. I didn't notice any decreased dry traction at all. I did notice that they feel strange in hard cornering. I can't wait to see how they perform in the Houston rain.
BTW...this thread helped me make my decision on the TS-1's.
