will a C6Z t56 & diff work in C5Z?

I found a used T56 & diff out of a C6Z. What mods are needed to use in a C5Z?

Thanks
Jeff

They should go in without modification. I'm not sure if this is the case with the 2008 Z06, but the C5Z diff is stronger than the one in the '06+'07 Z06.

Re: will a C6Z T56 & diff work in C5Z?

It Should, However the gear ratios are different.

Just for clarification. The C5 Z06 and the C6 Z51 tranny is a MN12 which has the following gear ratio's.

Z06 MN12

1st Gear 2.97:1
2nd Gear 2.07:1
3rd Gear 1.43:1
4th Gear 1.00:1
5th Gear 0.84:1 C6 Z51 0.74:1
6th Gear 0.56:1
Reverse 3.28:1

IMO the MN12 is close ratio, because the gear spacing is close together. The MN6 is wide ratio because the gear spacing is farther apart. The Z06 tranny will give you quicker acceleration because the of the closer gear spacing keeps the vehicle in the power band.

MN6 (reg C5) or C6 Z06

1st Gear 2.66:1
2nd Gear 1.78:1
3rd Gear 1.30:1
4th Gear 1.00:1
5th Gear 0.74:1
6th Gear 0.50:1
Reverse 2.90:1
