GET BACK it's going to blow Just kidding. Pretty much normal with many of or cars. Mine doesn't do it but I have less than 2 thousand miles on the clock.
Yeah it's normal. The walve train tends to be a little noisy on the Z06. Hey, when you put 405 HP through a 350 ci you kind of have to expect a little ticking from the valve train.
Freaked me out at first when I heard it (Terrible thoughts of extended stays at the dealer going through my head.... )
but as it turns out perfectly normal.

Remember being concerned about the ticking noise in my '03 Z.
I found it was noticable when it was warming up, but would pretty well be inperceptable once at full operating temprature.
Now that my Z has over 8000 miles, I havn't noticed the ticking sound in a few months.
For me, the ticking went away once the engine was fully broken in.
(I'm sure the 60+ runs down the 1320 helped.... )
I'm suspecting that a factor is some people tend to baby the LS6 too much. The LS6 perfer's her legs stretched!
Take her out and run her like she was designed for.....
There's a poll somewhere else on this forum asking how many '02 Z06's tick. Results of the poll show 80% of them tick. Mine is one of them. Normal as far as I can tell, although I wish it didn't tick.

Kind of hard to diagnose over the internet. Some ticking noises are normal, others aren't. If you have concerns, I'd suggest either comparing it to some other Z's yourself or, better still, let a dealer take a listen.
thanks alot guys for all the insight , the reason i cant take it to the dealership is i have the TNT installed, they wont even look at it,, so if 80% say it normal,, then im cool with it.
I sprayed it with the active handling on ,, and i thought i screwed something up , i keep forgetting to put it in competitive mode,, before i spray ,. its annoying....
