The NCM has set up a block of rooms at the following hotel for the HPDE at Putnam Park prior to the Z06 Fest on October 17, 2007. Please reference the NCM when you make your reservations.
Holiday Inn Express
1017 N Main St (US-231)
Cloverdale, IN 46120
I just got off the phone with an Alex at the Holiday Inn Express and he quoted me $130.95 !!!!!! I told him I was part of a group and he said nothing was set up. Needles to say I didn't book a room.
He did tell me the group rate would be $75.00. That is still high IMHO for a Holiday Inn Express in the middle of a cornfield in Indiana. When I can get a $75.00 rate, I'll go ahead and book it. Just to stay where everybody else is.
I travel all the time with my job and stay over a 100 nights a year in motels.
Later
OK, Just called Holiday Inn and spoke with Mandy and was told the rate for anyone off the street is the $117.86. She said that car clubs usually get the $75.00 per night rate. I confirmed this with a buddy who frequents this track.
Looks like we should be getting the $75.00 rate.
Joe

Just got off the phone with Roc. According to Roc, the nightly rate at this hotel jumps during this time of the season, and the $117.86 rate is a discounted rate.
Evidently there is some sort of event going on in the Indy area at this time of year that pushes all the hotel rates up.
All right guys,
I'm writing this in the McDonalds parking lot at the Cloverdale exit (exit 41)in Indiana.
I went to the Holiday Express and talked to the manager on duty, Candance. Told her the date and group and she said the rate was $117.86 and that was the 'group' rate for that date/event.
Went over to the Days Inn across the street the rate was $75.00, but when I walked out the door he said he could do it for $68.00.
Walked up the hill to the Econo Lodge and talked to the ass. manager Kathy. She was very helpful and explained that there was a 'Covered Bridge' thing going on starting Oct. 12-21 and that is why the room rates were so high. I told her that there was a group going to Putnam Park that needed rooms for one night Oct. 16th. She said the 'normal' Putnam rate was $49.95 (one person) but this was a 'special event' time and the rate would be $69.95. As I was about to leave she said if she got some early bookings from the group she could give a $59.95 rate.
So there.
I would rather pay $75.00 and stay at the Holiday Inn. It is a nice place and kind of secure parking. Anybody that got a $75.00 rate got a good deal.
I'm still wondering about the people that are putting on this HPDE. This is my first event and I would think that they would have had the hotel situation handled better.
The Econo Lodge is a little old, but they have a lounge, and they seemed very friendly.
There are a couple of other hotels at this exit, but I'm sure that they're all going to be about the same.
