In working with Roc on the 2008 Z06Fest (yes there is no rest for the weary), we have discussed englarging the HPDE at Putnam Park to a 2 day HPDE. I think this is a great idea.
Roc has spoken with the track and the track is available the week of the Fest, September 7-14, 2008. The track is open for use on Tue-Wed (September 9-10, and it is available on Sat-Sun (September 13-14)
So my question is this:
Do we want to schedule the Fest from Wed-Fri, September 10-12, and do the HPDE on Sat-Sun
OR
Do we want to do the Fest from Thu-Sat, September 11-13, and do the HPDE on Tue-Wed.
Some considerations:
1. Doing the HPDE on the weekend makes it much easier for the NCM to find great instructors for the event. For this year's HPDE (which was done on Wednesday), ROC struggled to get insturctors due to the midweek date.
2. Fest attendees will have the choice of doing the HPDE for one day or two. The charge per day will probably be a little more if you opt for just one day, but that will be an option. This option will only be available to Fest attendees.
Please vote so I can work with Roc to create the event the best possible way.
Tough vote for me, 'cause I appreciate Roc's challenges in lining up instructors during the week. That said, I voted for tue-wed HPDE. My thinking is that, much as I would like all to do the HPDE ... that's not going to happen, and I believe that to maximize potential attendance at the Fest Frivolities in BG we have to do a Thurs-Sat schedule.

Re: 2008 Z06 Fest - Event Schedule - Please Vote
I agree with the earlier comments. The Fest would have a better turn-out with the Thursday thru Saturday schedule. Some people may only want to attend the Fest (and only miss 2 days of work). Just an idea.

How about something during the summer months before the kids go back to school. Might prove easier to get those instructors to attend as well during the week.

I'm going to have to agree with DennyM, for the reasons he gave.
If it is hard for ROC to line up instructors, I for one, would not mind paying a little more for the event.
Don't think it would be a wise move to have the HPDE on Sat & Sunday. We already know most folks attend for the social aspect and comradery. Placing the DE on the weekend would possibly keep folks from even attending as I think a bunch come for the weekend thus reducing the number of days off of work one would have to take.
In keeping with my thought of getting the most to attend, hosting the fest during a the summer would prove to provide the best opportunity for a well attended event. Yea, I know the poll shows most would prefer September for weather related reasons only, but the key word is "prefer" It does not mean they will not show up during other months. I bet they would come in July or August too, along with many more attendees. I'll go anytime (except for this year due to my wifes cancer diagnoses) but I like to look out for the greatest attendance.

Well stated and agree. I also understand the dilemna of finding instructors to take the time off mid week, I have the same difficult time of scheduling the time with the work load for the company. But Roc worked it out well this year, good group of people out there.
