Re: 2009 Z06 Fest Memorable Moments!

Just being together with y'all again. Made my troubles go away for a week! And of course riding with Troy on the WART. And then there was Lembo's 10 second pass.
It ended on a sour note learning of Ernie's passing though...

Re: 2009 Z06 Fest Memorable Moments!

Seeing all of my Z06Vette family again, the MM run, hanging out and partying with everyone and meeting all of the new members that joined us this year.
Getting to spend a good part of last Friday with Ernie at the track and having dinner with him last Friday night is something I'll always remember.
Ernie had alot to do with me finally getting a 10 sec. time slip and for that I will be forever grateful and will always remember the grin he had on his face when I got back to the pits. We all lost a good friend! RIP brother!

Re: 2009 Z06 Fest Memorable Moments!

Here are mine:
  • Roll on in Lembo's car. Oh baby, that sukka pulls hard.
  • Riding with Bob on the way back from Maker's Mark. What a smooth and fast driver.
  • The comradery kept a smile on my face the entire Fest.
  • Seeing all my Fest buddies. Did it have to end? :(
  • Getting multiple kisses from MSiska. My wife was grossed out.
  • Seeing Arun put down a solid 9 second pass. That is one awesome ride.
  • The WART tour. OMG, that was exhilarating to say the least.
  • Group dinners.
  • Meeting new faces and new friends.
  • Seeing the new areas of the NCM.
  • The awesome weather during the fest. I think it was the best we've ever had.
  • Listening to a lunatic beat on my hotel door at 7am only to watch him through the peep hole as he walked away saying, "That lazy sack of Shiot"
  • Standing in the parking lot at 1am as a lady who just parked her car walks by and says "What is with these people with the damned trailers? They are taking up all the parking spots" I reply, "Yea, those damned tennis players". Oh and the cute girl from the Hot Air Balloon group that came over to chat with us.
Great times indeed. I can't wait til we meet again. Bring it.

I don't have much to add to the above. It is always great hanging out with you guys
Great people, great cars, great fun! It does not get any better. I just wish it did not have to end on a sad note

Re: 2009 Z06 Fest Memorable Moments!

Here are some of mine:

Watching Mike trying to sit up tall and peak over the blind rises during the first part of the MM Tour, pretty hairy when you are the lead car...

Seeing the smiles and hearing all the exhileration from the new members when we got to MM, they had a blast on the drive up.

Arun's and Jimbo's poasses at the track.

The number of new attendees at this year's event, now its time to multiply that number for next year.

Just listening to Troy.

Riding with Adam during the autocross, great run.

Welcoming the newest 4 members of the CFC at the banquet

Watching Nancy giggle like a little schoolgirl when they got to MM.

Seeing Nancy take over a full second off her 1/4 mile time after just three passes, her first three passes ever...

Seeing "my family" again, it just never gets old.

I am already counting down the days to next year's event, and I hope it to try to make it bigger and better...

Mark

Re: 2009 Z06 Fest Memorable Moments!

First Impressions-Following Erine in the WART (wow what a run) and chatting with him afterward and all during the fest!

Meeting everyone and putting faces and names with their usernames.

Fellowship in general.

The Drags and Autocross.

Breaking the 11s barrier.

Watching guys break their own barriers and receiving awards (congrats Jimbo and Aron).

The cornfield awards!

Having everybody share their experience with me (a wealth of knowledge).

Having pics shared after getting home.

Feeling so welcome and comfortable among strangers (amazing how the
Vette can be a common bond that unites).

The selfless and true friends.

Nancy's smile and Darin's calmness (what a super couple)!

The new NCM additions.

Being a part of something so much bigger than myself!

There are many more! I just want to thank everyone involved behind the scenes and looking forward to many more good times and get-togethers in the future!

Thanks for this thread Norman!

Re: 2009 Z06 Fest Memorable Moments!

Being with my Corvette friends again, and making new friends.

Getting to spend three un-interrupted days with my 17 year old daughter.

At the Makers Mark place, sitting outside on the grass, waiting for the tour to end. My daughter comes out of the gift shop and wants cash, which I give to her, then as she is walking away she turns around and says "Love you daddy" in front of the group. Everyone laughed. It was a classic moment for me.

Watching the guys play with Mike L while he slept off the tough WART on the grass at MM.

Moving the cone after Mark told me not to.

The WART and my daughter telling me it was not as wild as she thought it was going to be.

Talking to Ernie about his old C5 hardtop.

Getting pushed through the factory on a wheelchair.

Re: 2009 Z06 Fest Memorable Moments!

Boy I second everything above. Also:

Finding out that I really like Msiska.

Nancy doesn't smile--she has a full throated laugh!!!

Being with my buddy Navyphrog

Listening to the nonconquests of Troy the Stud.

Ribbing the MustangBoy, Hunter.

Standing behind Lembo and Phrog's cars and just absorbing the 'tunes'

Drags and Auto Cross.

Sitting on the curb with a good bottle of single malt whisky

DRIVING THE BEAST

Already looking forward to next year.

Jack

Re: 2009 Z06 Fest Memorable Moments!

All of the above.

Seeing old friends and meeting new ones.

Catching 3 nice largemouth bass at Norm's (and a huge snapping turtle).

Helping Jimbo with his TICK install (watching a grown man get into postitions unheard of)

MM and diet coke...need I say any more?
