Orange Krush suffers a setback...

So I flew into town last night and went up to Antivenom this morning to witness the dyno tuning of the car.

On the second run, at the end of the run, after Greg lifted off the accelerator, and depressed the clutch to put the car into neutral, we here a loud rattle from under the hood.

The immeadiate thought is that we broke a valve spring. We had intentionally put a lighter set of valve springs in to help break in the cam and the engine while on the dyno, and had a heavier set of valve springs waiting to be installed as the permanent springs.

Unfortuanately, when we opened her up, we found that the springs were fine, and that one of the valves in the LS7 heads had broken. The good news is that this did not happen while the car was under load, but when the car was "coasting" on the dyno.

Greg and Casey are taking her apart right now to survey the damage.

The net-net is that I will not be at the Fest until Wednesday, best case.

Parts will be ordered on Monday for overnight delivery on Tuesday, put her back together and tune on Tuesday/Wednesday, and hopefully I can head north late Wednesday.

There is the possibility that I will not be there til sometime on Thursday, which would mean missing the MM run on Thursday morning.

I will keep everyone informed as more information becomes available.

Mark

Re: Orange Krush suffers a setback...

Sorry to hear that Mark. Things will work out.
Better to have a mechanical failure near home, rather than on the road somewhere between FL and KY.

We'll see you in BG. Drive safely.

Hated hearing that Mark! You'll get her back together in time. How about moving the MM run to Saturday morning, just in case you are late getting to BG,,,,,hell, we can't break tradition and not have you leading the pack! Just a suggestion to consider.

Re: Orange Krush suffers a setback...

Just in case things do not go as planned, I have already booked a flight into Nashville for Wednesday Afternoon. I will make the call on Tuesday night whether I will be driving or flying to the Fest, but I will be there...

Good luck Mark in getting her back together in time. I know there will be a bunch of folks wanting to chase you through the corn fields.
