ZO6 fest

Ok I am seriously thinking on going to the fest.. But, do I NEED to register now or what? I have never been so I dont know.. Is it to late to register for the races (drag and auto-x). I dont know so please someone helpme. If I dont register will I be sitting outside a huge fence with barbwire at the top ? Or can I enjoy the festivities on a want to join bases when i get there?..
