2002 Z06 Missing Badly!

My 2002 Z06 started missing badly coming back from lunch today. It has been running flawlessly and has 30k miles on it. DIC is showing error codes P0101 and P0300. Can start it.. takes gas pedal to keep it running about 1500 rpm. Runs real rough.. missing badly. Listened under hood.. no loud clatter in engine. Seen forums about broken springs, don't think I have one but possible. Checked exhaust.. smells very rich. Interestingly enough.. the right exhaust is hot while the left is not hot. Seems like left side of engine is not firing. Any ideas?

Check the harness for the injectors on that side and check for chaffing near the rear of the motor which has been reported here before. Also check your plug wires, but it sound more like you have one side not firing more likely a harness problem. Check and follow the coil harness and injectors as a start. Good luck

Thanks Seamus.. will check the harnesses in the AM. Had to leave her at the office. Didn't want to try and drive her like that. I gave a push on all the plug wires.. nothing seemed loose. Didn't look too closely at the injector harness.

P0101 is MAF related but if that failed, you should go into speed density with no real adverse effects. P0300 is misfire which you aready know.

Like was mentioned above, look around for the obvious such as loose or melted wires, etc. or take it to the dealer and let him put a Tech 2 on it.

Let us know how you make out. I just saw you live in coral springs. If you need a great dealer try Ed Morse at Sunrise and The Sawgrass expressway. They have a good service department and work on a lot of vettes. I drive all the way from West Palm to use them.

Thanks Seamus. Have you ever used Lou Bachrodt's service? I have been using them and they seem pretty good. Just wondering because they are much closer for you.

Re: 2002 Z06 Missing Badly!

Are they on Northlake blvd? There are two dealers on Northlake one is Ed Morse and they were terrible. The other I don;t know. But the dealer I mentioned I have used for 4 yrs and do alot of vettes. Also they have a tech there that is a Guru of vettes that even GM techs call him, so I only let him touch it and it goes from me to him and no test drives w/o me. They put up w/ my anal ways so I;ve been sticking w/ them mainly because of the tech who always has alot of good info do's and don'ts. Good luck what's going on w/ the Z?

They are on 441 just south of the Sawgrass here in Broward. I've had decent work from them so far. Took the car in Friday... turns out a valve spring broke and bent a push rod. Lucky I guess I didn't bend a valve. Unreal.. springs breaking at 30k miles.. my 67 Camaro never had anything like that.

A valve spring's biggest enemy comes from high RPM runs before the engine has a chance to reach normal temp or an oil temp of around 150*.

Re: 2002 Z06 Missing Badly!

Lucky you didn't drop a valve. That would have been a much bigger problem. I second what Jub Jub said. Well good luck, happy it wasn't worse. Did you have a warranty?
