Abs, Traction Control Out

I was driving to the track yesterday and stopped to get some drinks. Stopped car and went in shop for 5 min. Came back out and started car. I have a lot of codes telling me to service abc and traction control with a warning that both are not working. So I head to the track anyway. I start the car after tech and all the lights and codes are gone. Traction and abs are back. Car runs great all night. Managed 12.3's in my stock 02 Z06. I made it all the way to the end of the night. After my last run I pulled over and killed the engine to wipe all the crap off my windows. Turn car back on and all the ABS and Traction warnings are back. I also noticed my gas gauge was all over the place. I am not sure if this is just a effect of the two tanks. But car would go from 3/4 of a tank. Then start stop car and i would lose 1/4 tank with out going anywhere. Any one have any ideas of where to start?

Thanks,
Robert

Re: Abs, Traction Control Out

The ABS/Traction Control may be the EBCM module starting to go. Mine went last year, there is a place that can rebuild them for about $200, much cheaper than buying a new one.

The gas tank thing may be the sensor getting dirty. Had this happen to me several times where I would get to 1/2 a tank then suddenly it would drop to empty. Ran a tank or two with some Techron in it, and the sensor would get cleaned up and work properly.

Re: Abs, Traction Control Out

See my other recent post. I had same problem and sent it off to repair for only $150.

Re: Abs, Traction Control Out

It could be a short in the wires that run underneath the car. I had a belt break and had the service ABS/Traction Control among others that flashed across the display. When the belt broke it pulled the brown and green wire for the traction control out of the black plastic tubular housing and broke them in half. I re-routed the wires, re-connected them, and reset the computer. Problem fixed. If you have ramps you can look under the car to make sure something on the road hasn't snagged the wires.

Re: Abs, Traction Control Out

Check you grounds and all the electrical connectors connected to the ABS control module. You can send it in to be rebuilt, but there are only certain failures that can be fixed (bad relay, IGBT (power transister) etc.). Check you codes then go to ABSFixer to see what code failures they can fix.
