Getting Misfire code, is this normal on cam setup?
Well what I mean is that when I first cleared the code I didnt get it even on my 300 mile drive. Not straight highway, here and there, stopped at a hotel drove 160 the next day. Still never got it.
It seems during the hot starts with my cam, I know I have to fight the idle for about 1min. Not a big issue, but once its running, even in this hot ATL weather if Im driving through traffic, I get a check engine light and heres come the misfire code again.
So for the past 2 times its always happened in traffic while in stop and go traffic light traffic.
Im just wondering if this is because of the hot weather and the a228/232 112lsa cam I got sitting in there?
Or should I consider taking this to the dealer or get it re-tuned again?
You need to find out what is causing the misfire code. It could be any number of reasons why the code appears. I would not ignore it. Misfire codes should be taken very seriously.
As far as the Hot Starts, you need some fine tuning via LS1 Edit to solve that issue. Perhaps this is causing the code or it could be 2 separate issues.
The only wierd thing I have gotten is the low oil level sometimes even though the dipstick shows full. The hot start issue was resolved with some tuning from Andy at 21st Century Muscles cars. They do a great job there.

Yea I got a low oil level as well, I got a feeling might have got that because the car was rocking so hard it throws the sensor off.
Its just really odd how it only comes back when its at idle on a really hot day. I will probably have to take it to the local GM stealership to let them handle it since its under warranty and the cam was installed by a GM certified tech. So they warranty the whole thing.
Oddly enough today leaving home from work the check engine light went off on its own. So now this is totally baffling. Only thing I can assume its not a major thing then. Must be cam/hot start related.
I would still have it diagnosed. I had a 224/228/583 Cam along with very aggressive Stage 2 Heads and did not have any codes or Hot Starts.
When my Z06 was a bolt on car, I experienced a short in my injector wiring harness. The engine light would appear and go away. The harness wiring was too tight and the metal clips were piercing through the wires causing my injector(s) to stay open and dump fuel into the cylinder(s). I hydro-locked my engine with fuel.
GM extended the wiring harness from the '03 models forward.
Will do Les, but going to be hard to prove the point when the code is gone unless I force a misfire by pulling a plug for a few minutes

Dixit,
even though your engine light is now off, you should be able to retieve the old codes via your DIC. These codes should/could be retrieved in the "History" mode when prompting codes through your DIC. The old codes have a "H" at the end.
What fully clears it out of History? Only reason I ask that is I remember someone posting on z06vette about clearing their Check engine light before going into emmissions and they still caught it. Does that mean they are also checking history?
I remember this person saying it takes 100miles to clear the code completely even after clearing it manually. Is this true?
