Help! Dic Code 10 Pmc Po300 C

2002 LS6: Drove the car to work today, topped off the fuel, drove home, car ran great all day. I did some chores, got back in the car and tried to start it. Finally got the car running but it's very rough. Will not run at idle, must keep RPMs over 2000. The engine appears to be running very rich and misfiring. Smell of fuel around car. Can't find a loose sparkplug wire or anything easy. Punched up DTC Codes and got: 10-PCM PO 300 C

That keys out to: 10-PCM - Powertrain Control Module
P0300 Engine Misfire Detected (C??)

Well, duh-I did have that figured out but what's going on. Should I try and drive it to a local garage across the street with the engine warning on or truck it to a dealer (I've got AAA).

Any diagnostic suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Did you do a search...I did.

A large variety of issues with that code.

I looked it up in the manuel and the first thing it said was to hook up a scan tool.

I had an 0300 Engine Misfire Detected. I checked my spark plug wires 1st. Good. The second thing I had as a sympton with that, was a car hitting what felt like rev limiter at around 4K rpms under hard acceleration. It wound up being a cracked spark plug.

This code is also characteristic of the Injector Harness chafing issue. Search for "chafing" and I'm sure you'll fine plenty of info. My 02 had this problem.

Driving it any distance could cause you more problems. The Cats can be damaged by the raw fuel that makes it out the exhaust if the engine is consistantly misfiring.

Well got the car back from the dealer last week. Problem was a broken valve spring on #4. Dealer replaced spring and seals and she's running like a champ. Did a 700mi R/T fall color road trip last weekend and it was all good!

Now my extended warrenty (100K mi/6 yrs) with Fidelity Warrrenty Services is another story. They would not reimburse the dealer directly; I had to put it on my cc while they say they review the charges. Geez-what scum sucking parasites-in hindsight should have opted for the GM Extended Warrenty. Would cost a bit more but would have been cheap anger management.
