Re: HID light

Did you buy a kit, or just some lamps that you hooked up yourself?

I can't give you any help on the alarm going off when you get in/out of the car. Never heard of anyone having that problem before - not sure how it would relate to the headlamp issue unless you have a fundamental wiring issue.

But... the symptom of the headlamps not going down is a design feature. The BCM checks for continuity on the headlamp circuit and will refuse to retract a headlamp if that continuity check fails. It's the car's way of saying "Hey, I think a headlamp is burned out". Many aftermarket headlamp kits replace the primary headlamps in the circuit with a relay, and then use that relay to drive the higher power aftermarket lamps. The BCM doesn't know how to check that new, secondary circuit, it still checks the primary circuit and the replacement relay doesn't present the "right" resistive load and that causes the BCM to think that a bulb is burned out.

Assuming the HIDs you installed were a kit, and not something you cobbled together on your own, call the manufacturer and complain and I bet they have a fix for the issue. If you did put your own kit together, you could still probably call someone who makes a system and explain your problem and get them to sell you a dummy resistive load to put in your circuit to correct the problem.

Also, if you did design your own HID setup, I would carefully review the hookup in an effort to determine why the alarm goes off. Troubleshooting 101 - disconnect the HIDs and see if the alarm problem persists!

Re: HID light

Probably something in the 2-4 K range 1/2-1/4 W would do the job if you knew where to put it..

Hey Rocket ... what is BCM am acronym for...I do not have a service manual

Re: HID light

To add to what Rocket has already said, I had to install a dummy 'load resistor' when I installed my HID kit to get the lamps to retract when I turned the switch to the off position. I found that you actually only need one of these resistors in the HID circuit to make the lamps retract (i.e. a single resistor installed on the left or right HID lamp circuit), but I installed one on both sides anyways.

Make sure the resistor that they recommend/you buy is of the large heat-dissapating kind. Cant remember the resistance value, but mine are about 2.5" long and 0.5" tall. I might still have a link to the website I bought mine from if you want it, I can PM you.

To take a guess at your horn/alarm problem, I would say that its unrelated to the installation of your HIDs (unless its honking/alarming because it thinks you have a headlight out, which I doubt. If so, the dummy resistor(s) will solve this problem). I know that if you have the cars DIC lock mode set for "Horn & Lights" or "Horn", it will honk once everytime you use the key fob to lock the car. Maybe this is what your experiencing...????

Re: HID light

I would like the see the web page you have LeRox. Im useing a kit thats plug and play. all you need to do is plug it in from the fact. light into the balist and then plug the balist into the light. I think I need a resistor to make the light work( I think its thinking a light is out)

Re: HID light

maineyak_2000, the acronym "BCM" stands for "Body Control Module".

Re: HID light

Heres a pic of how to wire in the resistor....it taps in across the two aftermarket HID harness wires. Just make sure you mount the resistor on something metal and away from the wires and anything plastic, cause it supposedly gets pretty warm.

***edited***

You have signed up on almost every car and motorcycle forum in existance over the last 2 days in each case acting like you were a newbie asking for advice on HID installation while at the same time advertising your company.
You are not a site vendor here nor do we allow vendors who are that dishonest to sign up as vendors here
